Huge meeting today at Sha Tin with some of the most exciting races of the season. I’m confident in a few short odds runners today and I’m hopeful they can salute for a nice result. Only 2 weeks to go until International Day so things are starting to heat up!
Sha Tin Racing Tips: Sunday November 27th
Race 1
(9) Ka Ying Warrior should open very short here on debut down the straight but has earned that price after trialling excellently over this trip on multiple occasions. He looks a talented youngster and possesses good early speed which should allow Zac Purton to take luck out of the equation and give the horse every possible chance.
(7) Always Beautiful might be one that flies under the radar slightly in the market but is a debutant who looks talented and hasn’t been given full bore in any of his lead up trials. He’s drawn well in 8 and could be a sneaky each-way chance.
(4) Baby Crystal is best of the raced brigade and was solid over this trip on debut from an unsuitable gate. Will go better this time from gate 10 and with improvement from his 1st up run is right in this race.
(6) See U Again fills in for 4th pick here and goes well over 1000m. Yet to be tested down the straight but can run well as he often does.
(9) Ka Ying Warrior Win

(11) Pakistan Friend sets up for a beautiful run this time in from gate 2 with Harry Bentley retaining the ride from last race. Last time, this horse had gate 14 and stuck on after racing wide to lose by only 0.9L to Accelerando. That horse goes from gate 3 out to 11 this time and Pakistan Friend gets a huge chance to turn the tables.
(13) Forever Glorious could run 2nd for a huge exacta here. He comes out of the same Accelerando and Pakistan Friend form line but missed their last matchup. I was a fan of his recent trial and expect the horse to improve now with blinkers 1st time and a light weight.
(1) Oscar Glory is quite a high percentage play here at each-way odds if you’re looking for that sort of thing. He’ll roll forward from a good gate, gets a huge 4.5kg claim off his top weight, and will meet Accelerando significantly better this time in with that horse drawn wide and up in weight from their last meeting.
(3) Turquoise Alpha is another chance at odds but is drawn wider here. The horse has been going well and has been short in most of his recent starts. If he was drawn a single figure gate in this event, I’ve no doubt he’d be much shorter than he is currently but if Hugh Bowman can offset the wide gate with a good ride this horse is in with a big chance.
(11) Pakistan Friend Each-Way
$11/$3.30 (0.5 Units)
Race 7
(8) Keefy gets a good chance to win here after running a close 2nd to Beautyverse who got a lot his way on debut leading under Zac Purton. Won’t be able to lead as easily this time, if at all, and Keefy should land leader’s back as he did last time with added fitness now 3rd up and having had the 1600m run under his belt.
(4) Running Glory can run well in this too backing up and dropping back to 1600m after winning impressively over 1800m. Rise Brethren is good form and the horse is drawn well for Vagner Borges who can take his time back in a comfortable position and wait for his opportunity late.
(9) Beautyverse narrowly beat Keefy last time when having his Hong Kong debut. He may take improvement out of that but will need to improve quite a bit to beat Keefy again who meets that horse 1.5kg better off this time.
(1) Excellent Proposal can’t seem to find his best form and is seemingly always battling for the minor placings these days. His best could make this race very interesting, but he should be around the mark regardless.

(11) Sweet Encounter undoubtedly should’ve won last time and maintained his unbeaten record. This is the standout bet of the day with Zac Purton retaining the ride, drawing gate 5 and looking all over the winner before the race has started. After missing the start last time, Sweet Encounter proceeded to be held up for the majority of the race on the rail and after getting out in the last 100m, stormed into 2nd. Wins with even luck this time.
(9) Gift Of Lifeline has rocketed home at Happy Valley his last 2 and will appreciate the move to Sha Tin where he’s got more room and time to wind up in the longer home straight. Drawn well and looks 2nd best chance.
(5) Powerful Wings has been quite costly of late going down at short odds-on multiple occasions. He’s got the ability to win but always seems to run into one or two stronger on the day. I suspect the same happens this time.
(1) Captain Win is drawn wide in gate 13 which is the reason why he’s not further up the order. He’s run well with wide gates for most of this preparation and was then held up and quite good late from gate 4 last time. Definitely some chance.
(11) Sweet Encounter Win
