It’s time for the Group 1 Queensland Oaks whilst the QLD Carnival continues. The card is filled with 9 races and the feature is the G1 in Race 8, but accompanied by the Group 2 Moreton Cup in Race 9. The rail is out 2m the entirety and selections are for a GOOD track with fine weather predicted. Watch and monitor throughout the day. The first race kicks off at 11.43am AEST.
Shannon Buckley has done the form to bring you his three best bets for day from Eagle Farm, and if you’re after more free tips for this weekend’s key meetings, then head over to our Racing Tips page!

Eagle Farm Racing Tips: Saturday, June 6th 2026
Race 1 – Mittys BM90 1810m @ 11:43am AEST
(4) Rotagilla – Early favourite for the race who won well three back and then was sound two back before failing to fire over 2000m. He drops back to 1800m now where he is 3 from 5 and is expected to bounce back. Worth thought.
(17) Calvary Man – he looks a nice play early in the day. He’s come back in good order this preparation and looks primed to run well here. He jumped on terms with them first up over 1350m where he was snagged back next to last from a wide gate before hitting the line strongly to get within 2.7L of GRAMMAR LAD (second fastest 4-200m and fastest L200m splits of the race / SAVAGERY VIBE since won twice). He was forced to take his medicine second up over 1600m where he was snagged back near last from another wide gate before getting to the extreme outside and hitting the line hard to get within 2L of NODACHI (fastest L200m split of the race / GLASS OF ROSE since won). He then went to 1825m at Eagle Farm on a heavy track where he had a much better run in transit from a low draw before getting collared inside the final 100m by SO YOU ARE and NELLIE LYLAX (beat home key rival KALUAKOI). He dropped back to 1600m at Doomben LS where he settled better than midfield from another good draw before being hopelessly held up down the straight and only getting out when the bird had flown (clearly should’ve won). He meets key rivals KALUAKOI and EXPRESS PAYMENT much better at the weights today, he maps for a good run better than midfield from an ideal draw, he goes best on dry ground, and he gets Rachel King up who’s in great form. Should be fighting out the finish
(17) Calvary Man WIN
$4.20 (2 Units)
Race 2 – Place Ascot BM85 1200m @ 12:12pm AEST
(8) Soothsayer – 6YO who has been sound this campaign and looks to be improving. Fitter now and conditions will suit. At the price I wouldn’t leave out of exotics. Value.
(9) Now Is The Hour – one of the best bets of the day in Qld. We were with him first up over this track/trip when he was heavily backed (SP’d $1.80) before failing to fire a shot (pulled up with a poor recovery / forgive). He then went to 1200m at the Gold Coast where he was firm in the market again (SP’d $4.00) before leading them up and giving a good kick to hold off all bar SUNSHINEINMYPOCKET who came from midfield to nail him in the shadows of the post (good gaps behind / all honours the winner). He stayed at 1200m LS at Doomben where he drew a very wide gate which resulted in him being caught wide and racing keenly behind the leading group, yet he got to the outside and still loomed as the winner inside the final furlong before ARABIAN ROSE sprouted wings to beat them all (high rating race / he came home 7.3L faster than average for the final 600m). This assignment doesn’t look any harder on paper, he draws a much better gate today, he’ll be cherry ripe fourth up, he goes best on top of the ground, he’s had two impressive wins at EF, and I think he’ll roll forward to make his own luck. D-day looms
(15) Surprise Honey – 4YO Mare who has been sound in her two runs back and will only further be improving third up. Early market has seen a nice push boosting confidence. Craig Williams in the saddle with draw plenty of admirers. Will be dictating and will be in this for a long way. Each way chance.
(9) Now Is The Hour WIN
$3.30 (2.5 Units)
Race 8 – Seven Queensland Oaks GROUP 1 @ 3:52pm AEST
(1) Panova – 3YO Filly who comes into this after winning the Australasia Oaks at Morphettville. Has since trialled and looks ready to go on with things here. Conditions will suit and gets a nice draw. Goes well.
(2) Single Red – 3YO Filly who has been around the mark of late and has been supported in the market in all her runs this prep. She is never far away and at the price I’d be keen on having a play. Looks well over the odds. Will need some luck from the draw, but Jason Collett opts to remain in the saddle. Blow out hope.
(8) Chispa – 3YO Filly who was very good at Randwick and then buttered up in the Group 2 finishing second. On the upward trajectory and will have many admires for this. Sticky gate is the only concern. Each way and not to be left out of the exotics.
(2) Single Red E/W
$17/$4.20 (0.5U/1.5U)
