Doomben Racing Tips

It’s time for G1 Doomben Cup Day at Doomben as the winter carnival in Queensland rolls on. Weather is expected to be partly cloudy with a chance of a shower in the morning before a fine afternoon with a top of 25 degrees. The track should be rated in the Soft range with the rail out 2m throughout. The first race kicks off at 11.43am AEST, and we have you covered with our best bets below.

Also, we're coming off a big day on Wednesday with a number of winners, so if you’re after more free tips for this weekend's key meetings, then head over to our Racing Tips!

Doomben Racing Tips: Saturday, May 23rd 2026

Race 5 – XXXX Chief De Beers (1110 METRES)

(1) Zealously – he looks a great bet here. He spun around in two trials over 900m and 1045m respectively which were both good pieces of work as he travelled sweetly without being asked for a supreme effort before resuming over 1100m at Hawkesbury in the Listed Gold Rush where he began smartly from a wide gate to cross the field and lead. He was forced to do some work early as he went 4.2L faster than average to the 600m, yet he spun the corner and gave a strong kick down the home straight to win comfortably (third fastest L200m split of the race / Bev’s Nine and Brudenell since quinellaed the Listed Ortensia Stakes at Scone last week which franked the form). I expect him to settle in the first four from a better gate today, he has a solid second up profile, the drying track will suit him, and Tom Sherry retains the ride. Expect him to run well

(7) Barber – resumes after two trials himself that were solid. Has a good first up profile and maps for a good run from barrier three. 1100m is ideal and Jason Collett goes up to partner him. Danger.

(1) Hidden Wealth – looked to have every possible chance last start when he led them up at an even tempo before getting collared late. Has a strong SP profile, JMac sticks, and he’ll likely roll forward too. Can hit back hard.

(1) Zealously Win

$3.20 (2.5 Units)

Race 7 – ANZ Bloodstock News The Roses (2000 METRES)

(1) Single Red – she brings the best form into the race and is a nice each-way play. She comes through the G1 New Zealand Oaks where she was very good behind Ohope Wins (ties in with Soverato) who produced a scintillating final 400m to get the money (good gaps to fourth and beyond). She had two months between runs before resuming over 1600m where she SP’d $1.40 before leading them up and fending them all off (soft win down in grade). She then made the trip over to Sydney to run in the Listed Gold Coast Bracelet where she was well-supported in the market (SP’d $3.20) before setting outside the leader in transit and giving a big kick down the straight to hold off all bar Nightline who absolutely stormed late to get by her (was good in defeat / ties in with some key rivals here). She’ll roll forward from the wide gate to settle in the first half a dozen, getting out to 2000m third up is ideal, and any sting out of the ground is a big tick. She can win (1 unit win / 2 units place).

(4) Grand Omaha – Melbourne visitor who went via Gosford where she was good behind Athanatos over 1600m last start as she looked to be warming up nicely late. Before that, she was held up at a key stage around Mornington over 1600m before hitting the line hard. Seems she wants every bit of 2000m now and she maps for a good run behind the speed.

(11) Chispa – has to go in after a dominant win over 1800m last start (loved her change up speed). JMac jumps off a key rival to ride her, gets an ideal draw for every possible chance in running, but this is a big rise in grade.

(1) Single Red E/W

$6.00/$2.00 (1U/2U)

Race 8 – XXXX Doomben Cup (1200 METERS)

(1) Half Yours – He comes through the same key lead up race as most of his rivals in the Hollindale Stakes where Pride Of Jenni was allowed to roll along and at her own speed and grind her opposition into the ground. I think getting out to 2000m third up is an advantage to Half Yours and I think they’ll get a bit more serious about not letting POJ have such a big head start turning for home. He absolutely walked in over 2000m in the Naturalism Stakes last preparation, remember? I think he can turn the tables in what looks a fascinating race.

(6) Pride of Jenni – she holds the key to the race. If they give her too much of a head start and she doesn’t regress from her last race, they simply won’t catch her. The key question is whether she folds up or not.

(7) She’s a Hustler – I’m convinced she’s a Group 1 mare in waiting, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see her improve sharply third up getting out over some ground. Key winning hope.

(1) Half Yours Win

$3.70 (2 Units)
