Week 9 of the NFL season arrives on Monday morning in Australia with the playoff picture beginning to take shape as we move into the second half of the campaign. Chicago has emerged as one of the NFC's leading contenders, New England and Green Bay are both looking to strengthen their postseason credentials, and Seattle faces a crucial divisional contest with significant injury concerns. With 13 games on Monday's slate, there are plenty of intriguing matchups and betting opportunities to explore.
Our three feature games begin with an NFC West showdown as the Cardinals travel to Seattle to face a Seahawks side missing starting quarterback Sam Darnold. Green Bay then heads to New England for a fascinating battle between Jordan Love and Drake Maye before Sunday Night Football sees the red-hot Bears host Baker Mayfield and the struggling Buccaneers at Soldier Field.

NFL Week 9 Monday Betting Tips
Las Vegas Raiders at San Francisco 49ers
8:25am AEDT
Las Vegas heads to San Francisco looking to turn around a disappointing season, with the Raiders struggling to find consistency on both sides of the football. Kirk Cousins has been unable to establish a reliable passing attack, while the offensive line has struggled to provide sufficient protection. Rookie running back Ashton Jeanty remains one of the team's most dangerous weapons, but the Raiders have found it difficult to establish their ground game when playing from behind. Against one of the NFC's strongest defensive units, Las Vegas will need to protect the football and avoid allowing San Francisco to dictate the tempo.
San Francisco continues to establish itself as one of the leading contenders in the NFC, with Brock Purdy and Christian McCaffrey providing the foundation for one of the NFL's most efficient offences. McCaffrey remains a constant threat both on the ground and through the air, while George Kittle gives Purdy another reliable option across the middle of the field. The 49ers have been particularly effective controlling possession and creating favourable situations for their defence, and they should be confident of exploiting a Raiders side that has struggled against stronger opposition throughout the campaign.
Prediction: This looks a difficult assignment for Las Vegas, particularly against a San Francisco offence capable of attacking opponents in several different ways. McCaffrey should find opportunities against the Raiders' defensive front, while Purdy's efficiency in the short passing game should allow the 49ers to sustain drives and control possession. Las Vegas has struggled to generate consistent offensive production, and falling behind early would place significant pressure on Cousins. With San Francisco enjoying home-field advantage and possessing considerably more offensive firepower, we'll back the 49ers to cover the handicap.

Green Bay Packers at New England Patriots
8:25am AEDT
Green Bay heads to New England at 5-3 after another inconsistent offensive performance highlighted its ongoing struggles running the football. Despite the return of Josh Jacobs, the Packers are averaging just 60.6 rushing yards per game, the lowest mark in the NFL. Jordan Love has consequently been forced to carry much of the offensive workload, although the emergence of Matthew Golden has provided another dangerous option through the air. Golden has recorded at least 12 targets in three consecutive games, while Green Bay's defence has been particularly effective generating turnovers, recording 15 takeaways through eight contests.
New England has emerged as one of the AFC's surprise contenders, also sitting at 5-3 under Mike Vrabel. Drake Maye has taken another significant step forward in his development, particularly when attacking downfield, and the Patriots have shown they can compete with stronger opposition. However, turnovers remain a concern, with New England committing 15 giveaways through eight games. The Patriots will also be without running back TreVeyon Henderson and receiver A.J. Brown, while several other offensive contributors are dealing with injuries. Against a Green Bay defence that has consistently punished mistakes, protecting possession will be crucial.
Prediction: This shapes as one of the closest contests of Week 9, with both teams possessing talented quarterbacks and defences capable of creating turnovers. Green Bay's inability to run the football is concerning, but Love has enough receiving options to exploit a Patriots secondary that has been vulnerable against opposing wide receivers. The Packers have also been outstanding as underdogs under Matt LaFleur, covering 17 of 20 games when receiving at least three points since 2019. With New England laying a field goal, we'll back Green Bay to keep this contest close and potentially cause an upset.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Chicago Bears
12:20pm AEDT
Tampa Bay enters Sunday Night Football at 3-5 after a disappointing opening half of the season. Baker Mayfield has struggled to consistently generate explosive plays, while injuries throughout the receiving group have made life increasingly difficult. Emeka Egbuka remains a key offensive weapon but is dealing with a foot injury, while the Buccaneers will also be without pass rusher Yaya Diaby. Tampa Bay has leaned heavily on its running game in recent weeks, but that approach could prove difficult to maintain against a Chicago side capable of building an early lead and forcing opponents into obvious passing situations.
Chicago has been one of the biggest surprises of the season, sitting at 6-2 after an impressive 34-17 victory over Seattle last weekend. Caleb Williams has developed into one of the NFL's most dangerous quarterbacks under Ben Johnson, ranking second in the league with a 77 QBR while throwing just one interception. The Bears have also strengthened their defence with the addition of Jeffery Simmons, who made an immediate impact against Seattle with six tackles and a sack. Chicago has been particularly effective in primetime, covering seven consecutive games under Johnson, and will be confident of extending that record at Soldier Field.
Prediction: Tampa Bay has enough offensive talent to remain competitive, but Chicago looks to have significant advantages on both sides of the football. Williams has been outstanding against pressure and should be capable of exploiting a Buccaneers defence missing one of its most important pass rushers. The addition of Simmons also gives Chicago another weapon against Tampa Bay's rushing attack, potentially forcing Mayfield into difficult passing situations. With the Bears playing some of the best football in the NFC and enjoying home-field advantage, we'll back Chicago to cover the handicap.
