Eagle Farm Racing Tips: Saturday May 30th 2026

May 29th 2026, 2:28pm, By: Shannon Buckley

Eagle Farm Racing Tips

It’s time for G1 Queensland Derby and Kingsford Smith Cup Day at Eagle Farm as the winter carnival in Queensland rolls on. Weather is expected to be sunny with a top of 23 degrees. The track should be rated in the Soft range with the rail in the true position throughout. The first race kicks off at 11.43am AEST.

Shannon Buckley has done the form to bring you his three best bets for day from Eagle Farm, and if you’re after more free tips for this weekend’s key meetings, then head over to our Racing Tips page!

Eagle Farm Racing Tips: Saturday, May 30th 2026

Race 2 – Benchmark 85 (12:18pm AEST)

(4) Lyles – really promising 4YO gelding who hasn’t reached his ceiling yet. He won all three starts last preparation, including a win over 1000m first up at Warwick Farm when he fended off Cepe Myrtle et al (ties in with key rival Swordplay). He’s had three trials in preparation for this, each of which have been nice pieces of work. There looks to be a stack of speed in this race, so I expect a strong tempo with JMac taking a sit better than midfield before hooking out to have last crack at them. I think he’ll be winning better races than this in time, so he’s a bet. Great chance

(6) Petticoat – was ordinary to the eye first up, but I expect him to improve sharply second up. He’s a 1000m specialist who’s proven to run time. Good value danger.

(3) Bossed Up – has form around Lyles last preparation, trialled up nicely leading in, and has a strong first up profile. Expect him to be flashing late if the hot tempo eventuates.

(4) Lyles WIN

$2.70 (2.5 Units)

Race 4 – The Straight Sires Produce (1:28pm AEST)

(5) Stormy Marco – he looks a nice each-way bet in an understandably open race. The market suggested he wasn’t going to do much first up, yet he jumped on terms with them, ended up one off the fence with cover, and then got to the outside before sprinting quickly to get the money (good gaps behind / fastest 4-200m and L200m splits of the race). He was sent around in a trial over 1030m last week that was an excellent bit of work as he hit the line under a strong grip with plenty left under the hood. He’s already proven over 1400m, the soft track is no issue, and I note JMac has decided to pair with him over key rival Vantorix. He’s shown he can be good out of the gates, so I expect him to settle better than midfield in transit and be close enough turning for home. Nice value play

(15) I Am Dirty – she won over 1200m two back beating Quarterback et al (also here) before going to 1350m last week and absolutely destroying them (big gaps behind). I doubt 1400m pulls her up, she just needs to overcome a very wide draw with a bit of speed inside her. If she can get over without using too much petrol, she’ll be hard to get past.

(4) Martist – he was the big flashing light out of the Vantorix race last start after he was snagged back from a wide gate and then had to weave between runners down the straight to just miss (should’ve won / went enormous). Draws a better gate, should be closer in running, and Zahra sticks. Can he repeat the same turn of foot second up over 1400m?

(5) Stormy Marco E/W

$10/$3.00 (0.5U/1.5U)

Race 6 – Fred Best Classic (2:38pm AEST)

(5) Brave Monarch – one of the better bets of the day! It was a very good return over 1200m at Eagle Farm when he was taken back from a wide gate before being held up at a key stage entering the straight and then angling over heels to hit the line strongly to get within 0.6L of The Wheelbarrow (good gap to fourth / fastest 6-400m and 4-200m splits of the race). He went to this track/trip second up where he was firm in the market (SP’d $4.40) before settling midfield in transit (3-wide with cover throughout) and then cruising up to them approaching the 250m mark when he exploded clear to put a space in them (dominant victory / good gaps behind / second fastest 4-200m and fastest L200m splits of the race). He stepped out to the mile last start on heavy ground in the G2 Queensland Guineas where he was heavily backed (SP’d $2.15), but he ended up getting shuffled back in running and was forced to stay nearer the inside down the straight, yet he accelerated quickly to get the money (another excellent win / good gaps behind again / second fastest 4-200m and fastest L200m splits of the race). I think he maps to settle in the first half of the field from a good draw, he’s fourth up and race fit, he handles all conditions, he loves Eagle Farm, and Martin Harley has a great association with him. Expect him to be in the finish

(2) Sixties – he was very good winning the G2 Phar Lap Stakes over 1500m before going to the G1 Doncaster Mile last start where he closed off nicely behind Sheza Alibi who was unbelievable winning the way she did. Has had a quiet trial leading into this behind Lyles (form franked?), he’ll just need a good steer from an awkward gate.

(7) Estremo – won well last start, will be hitting peak fitness fourth up, maps for a good run in transit, and JMac jumps on instead of sticking with Beadman. One for the exotics.

(5) Brave Monarch WIN

$3.90 (2 Units)
