May 24th 2024, 1:29pm, By: Brendan Bunworth

Sandown Racing Tips

Sandown Hillside will host Saturday racing at Melbourne this weekend with an early start prepared for punters. Race 1 will get underway at 11:25am (AEST), and there are 10 races on the program. The track should remain a Soft5 and every horse should get its chance down the long Hillside straight.

Race 8: Tile Importer Handicap Betting Odds – 3:25pm (AEST)

(13) Zamborghini gets one more chance for me after choosing him when 4th but only beaten 1.1L at Flemington last start. He is very fit now but won’t want any rain about, which there doesn’t look to be anyway. He drops 7kg for this after running on quite well last start and that should ensure he is even more powerful to the line and it does look as though the long straight again will suit. First try here but he has raced in harder races than this.

(14) Georgie Get Mad drops 5.5kg and almost pinched in at Caulfield last start after leading. Is fitter again and likes the Soft.

(11) Jabbawockeez has won half of his career starts on the Soft and has won 2 over this distance so has to be included in the placings.

(13) Zamborghini E/W

$6.50/$2.30 (1 Unit)

Race 9: Thoroughbred of Australia Handicap - 4:05pm (AEST)

(17) Cawdor is the first emergency but should gain a start in this. He has been knocking on the door for a victory in his last few starts and despite not winning a race in 9 months, he can run well after coming over from South Africa where he ran 6th in a quality Group 3 race and then 3rd in a handy race there over 1400m. He gets that distance again and it looks as though the Soft surface will suit. Luke Curries takes the ride.

(15) Belle Et Riche is quality but can do things wrong at times so barrier 12 was the worry here. She hasn’t won in ages but likes this distance.

(12) Bigolino may use barrier 1 to lead again here like it did when resuming at Caulfield (2nd). If he can get cheap sectionals out in front, he will be in this for a long way.

(17) Cawdor E/W

$6.00/$2.30 (1 Unit)

Race 10: Sportsbet Feed Handicap - 4:35pm (AEST)

(2) Gentleman Roy was taken to the inside on the home turn last start at Caulfield and that wasn’t really the place to be which was a poor choice by Gaudray. Jaylah Kennedy replaces here for the ride and Roy should go well second up having won twice previously when having his second start of the prep. The 1400m distance is no issue and he has a first and second to his name at this track.

(6) Junipal ran on well for 3rd at The Bool last start and does like a Soft track. Is another who is second up but I might to his third up to bet him for the W because his third up stats re better and he races well the longer he goes into a prep.

(7) Nicolini Vito ran home hard and almost got there last start at Flemington. He is running very well and Team Hayes has him 100 percent fit now. First time at Hillside though.

(2) Gentleman Roy E/W

$10.00/$3.10 (1 Unit)
