Moonee Valley Racing Tips: Friday, September 29th 2023

Race 1: Drummond Golf Handicap - 6:15pm (AEST)

(11) Boognish was our “Lay of the Day” a fortnight ago when running 2nd but she lost no admirers after leading and going hard early. She will try and get a slower run race here and from barrier 4 she should give good sight on pace. Jamie Kah rides for the first time and Boognish is one of the fittest horses in the race.

(10) The Marg Factor has drawn inside and should push forward also. She has won over this distance previously and has run 2nd at this track in both runs. Damien Lane is on.

(9) Delicious Tycoon was beaten a length by Rick’s Cafe a month ago at Hillside and she has been up for a while now for Matt Laurie. Very fit.

(7) Pungo is resuming for Waller but hasn’t looked good in recent jumpouts. Waller wouldn’t have her here if she wasn’t right though.

(11) Boognish - Win

$3.10 (2 Units)

Race 2: Xtreme Freight Plate - 6:45pm (AEST)

(3) Brave Mead had his supporters when 3rd behind Steparty last start and should find this easier. Is fitter now and is 1 from 1 when second up. Zahra sticks with him and he will likely settle midfield from barrier 7.

(4) Coincide has won 2 from 5 starts on the Good and has had a little freshen up since 2nd behind Veight a month ago. Jordan Childs has won on him before.

(1) Heuristic is resuming and has placed both time on resumption previously. He might be better on wet track which was the concern.

(5) Armed Forces should improve with more fitness and he was only 1: behind Brave Mead last time. Has placed at his only second up performance.

(3) Brave Mead - Win

$2.50 (3 Units)

Race 3: MSC Signs Handicap - 7:15pm (AEST)

(9) Sandpaper is resuming and has won when racing first up previously. Kah has won on top of him before and will ride again. He has trialed okay and as 3rd fav he is worth a play for Godolphin followers. It's his second try at the track and he will be running on from midfield.

(1) Najem Suhail is one of our favs and likes Good tracks. He was in the wrong part of the track last time at Flemington (9th) and he will roll forward again.

(2) Maotai likes this distance and likes Good tracks. He was 9th behind Red Card in NSW last start but then Red Card failed in Melbourne last week. Interesting.

(4) Zac The Boss prefers Dry tracks but the issue is seeing The Valley for the first time. Can he handle it?

(9) Sandpaper - E/W

$5.50/$1.90 (1 Unit)

Race 7: Charter Keck Cramer Moir Stakes (GROUP 1) - 9:15pm (AEST)

(7) Imperatriz has won 14 of 20 career race starts and we just can't go against here. She is 2 from 2 at The Valley and from barrier 5 she should sit around 5th in the run before getting a crack at them from the 300m. In the McKewan she was sensational winning by 2.5L in front of Rothfire who she meets again. She is second up and she has only lost once when second up previously.

(8) Asfoora was unlucky at The Valley last year but has come a long way since. Her win in The Heath was excellent and Aitken stays on.

(3) Uncommon James has run a 1st or 2nd at all starts on Dry ground. First try at The Valley though and they might be too slick.

(4) Rothfire gets the inside drawn and a Dry track which helps. Blake Shinn stays on again and the gelding has won 4 from 8 starts when second up. Goes pretty well at The Valley having won here before.

(7) Imperatriz - Win

$1.80 (4 Units)
