What a round of football we have coming up this weekend! Round 6 will be headlined by a massive ANZAC Day clash between the Magpies and Bombers! The sacred day will fall on a Sunday this year, which means that we will get another two games on ANZAC Day Sunday as the Hawks take on the Crows and the Power host the Saints.
The round gets underrway on Friday night with the Giants facing the Dogs in what has become one of the most heated rivalries in the AFL over the past few years before a monster five game Super Saturday slate takes place the next day. As usual, we have you covered with our betting tips for EVERY game below.
We had some tough results in Round 5, suffering our first losing week of the AFL season. We went down 3.36 units over the weekend as we hit just 3/9 bets, however, we are still up 11.61 units on the season so far and we will be looking to bounce back in a big way in Round 6.
(Odds correct as of Monday, April 19th)
The Giants and Bulldogs have built up one of the best rivalries in the AFL dating back to that thrilling preliminary final in 2016. The Giants have won their last two games on the trot to bounce back from an 0-3 start, which has breathed life into this Friday night matchups. Will we get another thriller?
The Cats and Eagles are both 3-2 on the season so far having recorded solid wins but also losing games that they were unexpected to lose. In Perth, the Eagles have looked almost unbeatable and they get another chance to take a big scalp when they face the Cats on Saturday afternoon.
For the first time this season, we get a double header of 1.45pm games on Super Saturday, with the Suns hosting the Swans in the early time-slot from Metricon Stadium. The Swans lost their first game of the season on the weekend, going down in a thriller to the Giants and will be looking to bounce back on the road on Saturday afternoon.
Many thought the Blues were a big chance in Round 5 against the Power but they were taught a bit of a lesson, going down by 28 points at Marvel Stadium. They will face a resurged Brisbane side this week, who claimed a big win over the Bombers at home in wet conditions in Round 5 to move to 2-3 on the season.
The Demons secured another win on the weekend to move to 5-0 on the season and remain one of just two undefeated teams in 2021. They are absolutely flying this season but will get arguably their toughest test of the year this week as they face the Tigers in a monster clash at the MCG.
The Dockers moved to 3-2 on the season with a fantastic win over the Crows on Sunday and will get another really winnable game this week as they host the Kangaroos at Optus Stadium on Saturday night. With what should be a win, they will move to 4-2 and jump into the top eight.
The Hawks and Crows both suffered tough losses on the weekend and will be looking to bounce back when they face off on Sunday from the University of Tasmania Stadium. The Hawks will start as slight favourites for the clash but I see plenty of value in this one.
The most anticipated home and away season clash of the year as always, will be the ANZAC Day clash. Collingwood will host Essendon at the MCG on Sunday afternoon and both sides currently have a 1-4 record. Regardless of the teams form, this game usually delivers plenty of suspense.
The final game of the weekend sees Port Adelaide hosting St Kilda from 6.40pm on Sunday. The Saints have had a brilliant win against the Eagles sandwiched by a 75 point loss to the Dons and an 86 point loss to the Tigers. Which St Kilda side will show up this weekend?
