Caulfield Racing Tips: Saturday May 4th

May 3rd 2024, 2:41pm, By: Brendan Bunworth

Caulfield Racing Tips

After a big week of racing at The Bool, the racing doesn’t stop as metropolitan racing returns to Caulfield on Saturday. It has been another dry week in Melbourne therefore the track should be a Good 4. The first race gets underway at 11:45am (AEST), with the two-year-old’s running over 1400m.

Brendan Bunworth provides his best bets for Caulfield below, and be sure to head over to our Racing Tipsfor more free tips from around the country this Saturday!

Caulfield Racing Tips: Saturday, May 4th 2024

Race 1: Sportsbet Photo Finish Refund Handicap - 11:45am (AEST)

(3) Signor Bill is the fittest horse in this race and they may pay to be advantageous in the first of the day. From barrier 1 I think Billy Egan will settle him in 3rd position on the rails before he awaits a late split. He raced last week and was way too good for them and despite the class rise and racing against two Godolphin owned horses, I think he is more forward than his opposition. He stays at the 1400m and another Good track seems a bonus.

(1) Snack Bar gets the blinkers off but does have to come over from barrier 8 because he will settle up on pace. His Ballarat win on April 3 was very good but that was on wetter ground.

(2) Brighella will go back and will be running on. Gaudray gets the claim which will help at the end of the race.

(3) SIgnor Bill

$2.60 (2 Units)

Race 3: MRC CHairman’s Handicap - 12:45pm (AEST)

(1) Cadmus loves Dry tracks and with no rain around gets a good chance to win here after running well when first up (3rd). He will have more fitness on his side now and from barrier 6 Tatum Bull should be able to position him up around midfield on the outside before letting down late. He’s 1 from 1 over this distance.

(2) Tolpuddle has drawn well and is another who likes Good tracks. He has won 4 from 8 when the track is Dry and he did win well at this track last start.

(4) Mirzann is well traveled and races in Australia for the first time. The worry is the Dry track but being in the Waller stable, he has to be respected.

(1) Cadmus

$4 (2 Units)

Race 5: BlueBlood Thoroughbreds Handicap - 1:55pm (AEST)

(8) La Danseuse Rouge has had four jumpouts in training for this first up assignment so is fit enough. She raced in some races during the Spring Carnival and she has won 2 from 4 when first up. She is 2 from 2 over the 1000m and she races consistently for punters. The concern though is that she hasn’t won on a Dry track in 9 attempts so we might go each-way.

(9) Scissor Step has been freshened up for this and may enjoy the rails here. She drops 3kg and did win a recent Bendigo trial.

(11) Perilous Fighter likes this distance but was disappointing last time. Big odds though.

(8) La Danseuse Rouge E/W

$5.00/$2.00 (1 Unit)

Race 9: Thoroughbred Club Australia Handicap - 4:20pm (AEST)

(8) Euphoric is third up now and fitter which will help his chances at each-way odds. He got too far back in the Golden Mile at Bendigo but picked up a couple late. Before that was a sound 5th while carrying 58kg but this time he is carrying 53 which will help. He might get back again and barrier 10 might be a plus.

(7) Shaiyhar is also third up and he likes this distance having won 2 from 4 over the 2000m. She will be running through the line.

(6) Aberfeldie Boy has drawn well but the worry is the form on dry tracks is poor. He is quality though and has to be considered.

(8) Euphoric E/W

$5.50/$1.95 (1 Unit)
