The Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes awaits us at Caulfield on Saturday with the two-year-old’s set to compete over 1200m. The Group 1 Futurity Stakes is a highlight too with Mr. Brightside looking to go for two in a row since being runner-up in the 2023 Cox Plate. Not to be out done, the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate is the following race in Race 9 with King’s Gambit the likely favourite. The track will remain Good and the first race on what is a massive day will start at 12:15pm (AEDT).

Race 1: Vale Verry Elleegant -12:15pm (AEDT)
(4) Mankayan is ready to peak now after two runs in from a spell and a couple of starts where he made up good ground over the concluding stages. I think each-way may be the play here as you will go close to getting your money back if he does get rolled and runs a drum. The Valley probably didn’t suit his style last start when 4th and they did go slow for half of that race which made it hard for him. He likes this distance and he has won at Caulfield previously.
(5) Glentaneous has been freshened for this race after being way too good for them at Flemington on New Year's Day over a further distance of 2800. He just jogged around in his two trials.
(7) Flash Feeling should get a good run in transit from barrier 2 and he only has to carry 54kg with Kah on top. He loves this distance and can handle Caulfield.

Race 2: Sportsbet Make It Look Easy Handicap - 12:45pm (AEDT)
(13) Kin has been very costly to punters of late but returns to Caulfield where she does run quite well at. In saying that she runs well on most occasions but has only won 2 from 18 starts. She was a little unlucky last start when 3rd here and barrier 6 should see her settle in a midfield position on the outside. She rarely loses by much and she stays at the 54kg which is a key. If she doesn’t run top three here she will enter the sack bin.
(7) Midtown Boss has drawn wide in 11 which won’t help his chances but you can’t leave him out after a huge first up second at this track where he did beat Kin. He likes to settle handy which may not aid his chances from out there.
(1) Boldhino is honest and will go forward again for Gaudray. He is carrying the top weight which might find him out over the concluding stages though.

Race 7: Lamaro’s Hotel Futurity Stakes GROUP 1 - 3:40pm (AEDT)
(1) Mr Brightside is obviously the one to beat after his impressive Group 1 C.F. Orr Stakes win last start and looking at the field, although they are a good bunch of horses, he has raced in better company than this in recent times and he should win. We will have to take short odds but hopefully that just builds a little extra into the bank for the day. He loves Caulfield and it looks like Williams will settle him in a lovely position again in around 6th position. Williams won’t want to lose again on another short-priced favourite after losing on $1.35 fav Jimmystar last week.
(2) Pericles has drawn well in one which should see him settle in 3rd or 4th position on the rails. He likes this distance and will be fitter for the run in the C.F.Orr Stakes last week where he ran a solid 6th.
(5) Nugget will run a good race at double figure odds after trialing well. He should settle just in front of Mr Brightside and will try to be in front of him for a long way. I think he will get passed at the 150m mark but may settle for 3rd.
