Sandown Hillside will host midweek racing in Melbourne on Wednesday with gallopers running on a Good 4 surface. It's not a bad midweek program either with one or two of these aiming for bigger races in April. Race 1 starts at 3:05pm (AEDT), while the last finishes a touch after 7pm. After a small win on the weekend, we aim to continue with the best three plays of the day below!

Race 2: LockettED.au Plate - 3:40pm (AEDT)
(14) Quickster should appreciate the wide home straight that Hillside has to offer so he can unwind late. Barrier 10 should be fine for Shinn as he is a horse who likes to track into the race with cover but unleashing a big finish. On February 21 he ran on well for 2nd at Lakeside but this track should be key here. He has run two 2nd’s when second up which he is today.
(10) Nakoa has also drawn wide (12) and has had a lot of trials under his belt leading into this. Some have been good, some have been poor. Interesting runner who has the in-form Kah on top.
(6) Henry’s Blade was supported at The Valley on debut and ran on well for 4th. Should improve again second up.
(14) Quickster

Race 4: Thoroughbred Club Australia Handicap - 4:50pm (AEDT)
(6) Fire of Etna was a bit poor last start after the punters rallied behind her but she can make amends here on a suitable track. Currie will probably get her to settle in around 4th position on the outside before working into it late. She rarely gets beaten far when she does lose but today I think she might get home over the last 100m.
(3) Artzino has been a bit disappointing his last three starts but he is better than that. The two keys here are that he goes well fresh and that he has won for Zahra before who sticks with him here. He has never placed on a Dry track but I think Hillside will suit his racing style.
(7) Brazen Kingdom has drawn inside and had fitness on his side. He may settle in the box seat and Higgins is on and he has won on him before.
(6) Fire of Etna

Race 8: Sportsbet Make It Look Easy Handicap - 7pm (AEDT)
(13) Freight Train for Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr looks good here on the back of a Pakhenam win after he came from well back. Shinn was on that afternoon and remains on top which is a plus as is the perfect barrier in 2. His maiden win was on a Good surface which he gets again here and he drew awkwardly that day (10) so you would think drawing inside would enhance his chances even more.
(12) So Sleek should improve from the inside draw after running 8th at Bendigo. Despite finishing in that position he didn’t lose much ground and the rise in distance should suit.
(15) Inevitable Award has drawn wide in 12 but did draw 11 when winning at Bendigo last start (Good4). With luck he has to be included. Spain sticks with him and he has won on him previously.
