Racing in Melbourne this Wednesday takes place at Sale with eight races on the card today.
The track is currently rated a heavy 9 with the rail out 5 metres the entire circuit. There’s been a bit of rain around Melbourne and plenty more forecast so expect us to be racing on a pretty wet surface here.
With the first few races of the program taking place over the jumps, Billy Bestford has cast his eye across the back end of the day and found his best bets for the flat racing. Read on to see his free horse racing tips and race previews.

Race 6
(3) He’s On Form is one of the few in this race who is proven in the heavy going and he has been racing very consistently of late. His only run on a heavy track came here over 1700m where he won well. He looks to be building to another win now and rising to this trip for the first time seems an ideal set up. Looks the lightly raced horse in the field with many of these having reached their level. From the inside draw he can park midfield and will just need the gaps to come at the right time.
(8) Aragon doesn’t win out of turn but is another who has been racing consistently and another win isn’t far away. He’ll enjoy getting up in trip and has two placings on heavy tracks from four runs.
(2) Latin Beat might be the value and is probably looking for this sort of trip now. No wins on heavy tracks however.

Race 8
(1) Jonty looks exciting and resumed with a very impressive win at Cranbourne over 1300m. He beat a pretty strong 64 field there by 4L and should only be better improved and fitter now 2nd up rising to 1400m. The last time he saw this trip was the end of last prep where he bolted in on a heavy 10 track by a casual 16L! While it was maiden grade, it takes a pretty decent horse to do something like that and he is clearly on the upward trend. Stays in 64 grade and I can;t see them catching him yet again.
(5) Set To Prophet gets the blinkers on for the first time today and I think that might sharpen him right up. His debut win was impressive and it has turned into a decent form race. Was a bit all over the place last start in this grade so blinkers should have him ready now 3rd up and he looks progresisve enough for a race like this.
(6) Sizzling Sonata ran a 1L 2nd to Passive Agressive when first up this prep. That form looks pretty good now after that horse came out and bolted in on Saturday and looks group class. Should be fitter now 2nd up and has only missed the quinella once in four career starts. Stable is airborne and he looks to get a nice sit in behind the leaders from gate 2. A very heavy track might be the query?
(5) Toorak Playboy looks a huge price here. Not much went right fresh but he’s a much better 2nd up horse and is a deadset swimmer. If were on a proper bog track by this stage I doubt he remains $51+. Is a two-time winner at this track and he can definitely fill a placing.
