Pakenham Racing Tips: Wednesday October 4th

October 3rd 2023, 4:46pm, By: Brendan Bunworth

Pakenham Racing Tips

Pakenham gets a chance to host midweek racing in Victoria this week with an eight-race program on offer. There is meant to be 20mls of rain around the region in the lead up so the track will likely be downgraded from Good to Soft. Race 1 gets us underway at 1pm (AEDT).

Pakenham Racing Tips: Wednesday, October 4th 2023

Race 1: Ladbroke It Maiden Plate - 1pm (AEDT)

(6) Tidal Force knows this track well after 4 solid jumpouts here for the local stable in Busuttin & Young. Blake McDougall is on and the son of Darci Brahma has placed when fresh previously in New Zealand.

(11) Quizlet ran on quite well in his jumpout for Wendy Kelly. Will need more time but can place here.

(10) Ninnita was never in it last start but has a leading jockey on here in Ben Melham. Local trainer.

*Scratched* (9) Moonglow Miss led when 3rd at Echuca last start and may try the same tactics here. Barrier 10 is a worry though.

(6) Tidal Force - Win

$2.60 (2 Units)

Race 2: SILKS Maiden Plate - 1:35pm (AEDT)

(1) Colleano gets the blinkers on this time after his strong 3rd at Geelong last time (backed in). Melham is on for Price & Kent and he will be pretty short. From barrier 3 he should get a gun run and if he wins the stable may look at a Spring Carnival race.

*Scratched* (2) Delivering is fit and consistent after 3 runs in this campaign. He will likely settle just behind Colleano and we expect the pair to quinella this.

*Scratched* (3) Dirty Weekend won a Flemington jumpout and may try and led this field before trying to put on the breaks.

(4) Hypeman has raced in 2 strong races in his short career and has placed on a Good surface. Barrier 10 though!

(1) Colleano - Win

$2.10 (3 Units)

Race 3: Hygain Maiden Plate - 2:10pm (AEDT)

*Scratched* (5) Pickaxe may try to roll to the lead or just sit outside it in this race from a wider barrier. He has from in all conditions including a 2nd on the Heavy so the rain won’t worry him. Kah takes the ride this time and he should be stronger after a 6th at Hillside (led and faded). He has been in the money 3 of 4 and he is pretty fit now.

(2) Awash has placed on both the Good and Soft and wasn’t beaten too far in the last 2 starts. He will likely settle 3rd or 4th in the run.

(7) Turpin’s Torment will likely go forward but will need a cozy and slow-paced run race to win. Can place if leaders get away.

*Scratched* (10) Moonshine Annie has a wide barrier in 16 and comes into play if the track is Good which may be unlikely with the incoming weather.

(2) Awash - Win

$2 (4 Units)

Race 7: Frankston Sand & Soil & Mini Mix Handicap - 4:30pm (AEDT)

*Scratched* (13) Lady Adelaide was pretty good at Casterton last start when 3rd and she will likely get similar track conditions here. She usually settles around 3rd or 4th in the run and from barrier 7 Luke Nolen should be able to position her up nicely. Has won at Cranbourne before.

*Scratched* (11) Golden Pierro won well at Swan Hill last start but from barrier 16 will have to roll forward. He is speedy and the Waterhouse & Bott team may be eyeing off something harder in a few weeks.

*Scratched* (10) Diddly Squat likes Soft tracks and won at this track only 2 weeks ago. Will roll forward again.

(7) Ghetto Superstar has won over this distance and has won on Soft ground. Was close up at Geelong last start when 5th.

(7) Ghetto Superstar - Win

$4.80 (1 Unit)
