Moonee Valley Racing Tips: Friday December 1st

December 1st 2023, 11:59am, By: Brendan Bunworth

Moonee Valley Racing Tips

The first night of summer sees racing action at The Valley on Friday night with eight races on the program. The first race starts at 6:15pm (AEDT), with the last race concluding just after 9:45pm (AEDT). Track conditions are a bit sketchy with rain falling around Melbourne on Wednesday and Thursday, but I have studied for a Soft5 surface for the night. My four best bets are below!

Moonee Valley Racing Tips: Friday, December 1st 2023

Race 3: Western General Bodyworks Handicap - 7:15pm (AEDT)

(2) The Genius ran on nicely at this track last run over the 2040m and the extra 460m seems as though it will suit. The conditions that night were Dry but this time the track is likely to be rain affected which will assist The Genius even more. He has won on the Soft before and after a month off before his 3rd last start, he will have gained a lot of fitness after that effort. Knows the track now and is strong.

(1) Fearentless prefers wet ground too and was only a couple of lengths behind The Genius last start. She has won over this distance before.

(6) Jukila is very experienced and is very tough. He has placed over this track & distance before and has trialed up for this encounter.

(8) Jumpin’Jaguar is on the quick back up after running 4th at Cranbourne. Did run on well on that occasion.

(2) The Genius - Win

$3 (2 Units)

Race 5: EDSA Group Handicap - 8:15pm (AEDT)

(5) Foolproof was beaten a nose at Ballarat on November 15 after a come from behind effort. McLeod is on top this time and won on the gelding at his only ride on him. The stable is in form and Foolproof has won over this distance already. Faces more experienced horses here but the field isn’t overly strong.

(4) Simeon was scratched at Lakeside on Wednesday in preference for this. Track conditions may be a concern but is going well and has drawn inside which may be an advantage.

(2) Test The Law has raced in tougher races than this and a Soft track won’t be an issue. Has been settling handy at Morphettville in his last couple in which he placed.

(1) Lady Tino is unbeaten and flying for Jerome Hunter but faces a Soft track for the first time and has to carry 63kg.

(5) Foolproof - Win

$2.50 (3 Units)

Race 6: Ladbrokes Racing Club Handicap - 8:45pm (AEDT)

(3) Inthelapofthegods has drawn wide in 13 here which is a slight concern but he was backed to win last start at Mornington when 6th after settling 2nd. He sees The Valley for the second time and can handle this distance. Stockdale stays on and he has won 4 times on this guy. He is third up from a spell and he has been in the money twice before when third up and he has received more fitness with recent trials. The first 200m is important but if Stockdale can get him over without getting caught wide, he can win.

(9) Highland Hill will go forward but does have a wide barrier in 11 so will be have to be ridden with hope that he can get over without much effort.

(10) Iffycould was 2nd at Warrnambool 2 runs back and then was backed to win at Hamilton when 3rd. Each-Way.

(12) La Gioia was fav when winning at Kyneton last time and she will likely settle midfield from barrier 6.

(3) Inthelapofthegods - E/W

$31/$7.50 (0.5 Units)

Race 8: Sharp EIT Solutions Handicap - 9:45pm (AEDT)

(1) Miss Icelandic rises 4kg in weight but looked good when 3rd at The Valley last start after she settled on speed. From barrier 10 Gaudray will likely go forward again and her horse should be fitter now and could be strong to the line. Likes this distance (2 wins) and she is ready to win again.

(2) Pretty Tavi remains with 61.5kg and is another who should be fitter after 2 solid runs after a spell.

(5) Impending Diamond will want a wet track and she is resuming. Can handle the distance well.

(6) Royal Invader was a beaten favourite at Ballarat last time and she returns to her favourite distance here.

(1) Miss Icelandic - Win

$4 (1 Unit)
