Gloucester Park Harness Tips
Race 1 – 5:16pm WST (7:16pm AEST)
A 3YO Restricted race to kick off the nine-race program and Know When To Run for trainer Justin Prentice looks hardest to beat despite barrier eight. Gary Hall Jnr is still listed to drive both which is not very helpful for punters but I believe this horse is more versatile than stablemate Back In Twenty. Three wins from five starts, Know When To Run can make a move to sit outside the leader and should prove hardest to beat. Euphoric Moment also looks over the odds from the good draw with Kyle Harper driving. Happy to back Know When To Run and Euphoric Moment at $2.15 and $6.50 or better respectively.
Race 4 – 6:47pm WST (8:47pm AEST)
Theo Aviator is the class horse in the race and the 3YO gelding was a dominant 1:55.4 winner four starts ago when defeating Vincenzo Peruggia which is good form against this opposition. If he can work his way to the lead, they shouldn’t catch him in this company. Otherwise, he sits outside of El Comacho or Franco Joaquin and should be too tough for them. Under that scenario, trainer-driver Aldo Cortopassi will have to be mindful of Waltzingwithsierra and Millwood Molly. Theo Aviator’s last start was a fifth-placing behind WA Derby winner Major Trojan which is a nice form line. Happy to back at $1.60 or better.
Race 5 – 7:17pm WST (9:17pm AEST)
Cott Beach is the best horse in the race and she has come up with barrier 10. It will be interesting to see if Nathan Turvey stays on the fence over the 2536m and looks for clear running in the final circuit or gets off the pegs straight away and makes a strong run at them late. I prefer to side with Jaxon Fella from barrier two with Chris Lewis driving. He is consistently running slick last halves but does require luck in his races. Down in this class, he may attempt to lead throughout, which is something he was known for back in the day. Happy with $2.60 or better for Jaxon Fella. I would also have something on Be On Guard at double figures because he is racing in excellent form.
Race 6 – 7:47pm WST (9:47pm AEST)
The Royal Lady notched a rare win two starts ago at Bunbury and then finished second at Gloucester Park. She will cross Imana Capri early and looks place value in the race. She will likely hand up to Salome Miss or Kitura and Amelias Courage should race outside of the leader. I’d feel sick if The Royal Lady could somehow win and only be on the place, so have something much smaller on the win just in case a couple of the better chances in the race don’t perform.
