Flemington Racing Tips: Saturday July 15th

July 14th 2023, 12:39pm, By: Brendan Bunworth

Flemington Racing Tips

Flemington will host a nine-race program on Saturday with the Deane Lester Flemington Cup one of the highlights. Race 1 will commence at midday (AEST) and the last race will conclude at 4:48pm. There hasn’t been much rain around Melbourne the last two weeks and with that comes a rare Good track for Flemington in the middle of winter.

Check out our best bets for Flemington below and make sure to head over to our Racing Tips page for more free tips for the key race meets around the country.

Flemington Racing Tips: Saturday, July 15th 2023

Race 4: VRC Member Shane Murray Handicap - 1:45pm (AEST)

(4) Legio Ten gets the nod here after running on solidly at this track on July 1 (3rd) over 1200m. I think the 1400m looks ideal now with the gelding being 100 percent fit and barrier one might be okay if he does miss the start a length like he tends to do. Celine Gaudray is in good form and takes the ride and she has had 1 start for 1 win on him.

(7) The Creator won twice in a row in NZ before trialing up nicely for this. Is 1 from 1 on a Good surface,

(1) Tijuana has only been racing fairly but the rise to 1400m should suit.

(2) Hennessy Lad is 2 from 2 when resuming and has won for Carleen Hefel before.

(4) Legio Ten - WIN

$3.20 (2 Units)

Race 6: Deane Lester Flemington Cup - 3pm (AEST)

(8) Mostly Cloudy was sent to Sydney and ran pretty well when 3rd over 2400m last start. He has won 4 times from just 8 starts on the Dry surface which I think is the key here. He loses a massive 7kg in weight and he does like racing around this distance range. Jye McNeil takes the ride for the first time.

(9) Ferago is a big chance on the back of his last start Morphetville win but his form on Good tracks is poor.

(6) La Baol was a 25L winner over the Hurdles last start and that might sharpen him up a bit for this.

(3) Mimi’s Reward likes Flemington and is fully fit. Has won 3 times for Dan Stackhouse who rides again.

(8) Mostly Cloudy - WIN

$2.60 (3 Units)

Race 7: VRC Member Rebecca Sutherland Sprint - 3:40pm (AEST)

(6) He’s Our Bonneval is ready to fire now and although he hasn’t won on the Good, he has won 2 from 5 on the Synthetic. He does usually get back in his races so will want the pace on. Damien Oliver is on again and he did run 2nd on him 2 starts back.  Hasn’t placed at Flemington in 3 attempts which is a small concern.

(4) Do Ya Punk won well last start after coming from off the pace and he does like racing over this distance.

(6) Ranting is an interesting runner who must be kept safe in the market after changing trainers. Was poor last campaign but does have ability.

(8) Skywolf is fitter again and is a last start Caulfield winner. This is harder but he does have an excellent winning strike rate.

(6) He’s Our Bonneval - WIN

$5.50 (2 Units)

Race 8: VRC Member Clint Jellis Handicap - 4:15pm (AEST)

(15) Fifth Position is over the odds i reckon and despite being a horse who is slow out and gets back, Flemington might just suit him in this race. His run 2 starts back at Hillside (5th) was pretty good and he has won over this track & distance previously.

(13) Deepstrike should improve on a Dry track. Forgive the latest run.

(11) Rolls is probably coming to the end of his prep but has one more good run in him I reckon. Likes racing with Harry Grace on top.

(7) Bonny Ezra has Ollie on and is coming over from Sydney after an unlucky 4th.

(15) Fifth Position - WIN

$41 (1 Unit)

Race 9: Trevor Clarke Handicap - 4:48pm (AEST)

(2) Najem Suhail smashed them in a jumpout 2 weeks ago and does go well on Dry tracks. First try at this track & distance but can lead all of the way here. Thomas Stockdale takes the ride for the first time after the horse was gelded 4 months ago. First up!

(3) WIlliam Thomas is over the odds but does get back a long way in his races. Hasn’t won in a long time. Branxholme’s Amy Herrmann takes the ride and she does have a strong following in the south west of the state.

(5) Boonie got done by a head last start and is fitter now. Will be up on speed.

(6) Boss Lady Rocks likes this distance but sees Flemington for the first time.

(2) Najem Suhail - WIN

$5.50 (3 Units)
