Race 1: Road to Magic Millions On Sale Now BM90 2212m at 12:43pm (AEDT)
(5) BAANONE ($8.50 / $2.25) – I’m convinced he’s going better than the race book suggests and happy to spec each way at the price. He produced a slashing finale two-back in the Toowoomba Cup over 2000m beating home LINTHORPE LAD, RED WAVE and SAYL before going back in trip LS to 1830m behind BLACKCOMB (ties in with TAPILDOODLEDOO and RED WAVE) doing his best work late. I think getting back out to 2200m is a big tick, he gets Angela Jones back aboard, draws a good gate for a soft run, and gets some weight relief on key rivals. He’s an aging 9YO now who’s been up for a while (queries) but I think he’s over the odds. Good roughie (1 unit e/w)
(1) BONNY EZRA ($3.10) – 8YO veteran who has been running in some tough races, but now gets a nice class drop and is proven over this trip. Gets Orman in the saddle who I find hard to catch, but looks a top hope here. Goes well.

Race 3: Madison Cleaning Services Hcp 1600m at 1:43pm (AEDT)
(6) PORTAROSA ($4.20) – looks a nice filly for the Neasham stable who can make it two on the trot. She was well beaten two-back over 1400m after having a nice run in transit but she did her best work through the line and there were big gaps to fourth. She went to the mile LS and jumped a $2.50 favourite sitting OSL before putting a hole in the field inside the last furlong running away from them by 2.8L. She beat home LISSARO that day who arguably should’ve beaten ENCODER since (ties in). I think she maps for one of the runs of the race up on speed from that low draw and if she can produce the same TOF as LS she’ll be awfully hard to beat. On the up! (2 units win)
(3) INCA TRAIL ($3.00) – 3YO who won nicely second up over this trip and looks suited to go on with it now. Will be hard fit and experienced enough now to give these others a race. Will take catching.
(6) PORTAROSA - Win

Race 5: Titan Telecoms Hcp Class 6 1600m at 3:05pm (AEDT)
(4) CHATTY LADY ($5.50 / $2.05) – best each-way bet of the day! Produced a cracking finale two back when coming from last on the corner over 1300m at Toowoomba on a day when it was no disadvantage being on-speed / nearer the inside lanes to pick them all up and win (beat ARNAQUEUER that day who was subsequently well-backed before breaking down). She then went to 1400m LS and was well-backed (SP’d $4) before finishing third behind PREACH (had race shape against / was clearly the best of the closers / first out, first home). Gets to the mile today from a good gate and Jimmy Orman sticks. She can win (1.5 unit e/w)
(3) REGAL POM ($5.00) – 5YO gelding who was nailed on the line by SHIBILI two back over this trip and then swooped the field last start over 1500m to win. Back to a Class 6 here, but will need to lug 5KG more than his run two back which is the only concern, but off last starts performance looks capable of winning if he gets a nice run in transit. Keen to watch.

Race 8: Ladbrokes Communities BM75 1400m at 5:03pm (AEDT)
(13) SHA OF GOMER ($3.90) – best bet of the day in QLD! Arrives here off a 6-week freshen up (with an easy trial a week and a half ago) and finally draws a gate! His last two starts have been full of merit without winning. Two-back he settled in the back half of the field before coming very wide on the corner and hitting the line strongly to finish third behind AZZAREACH by half a length over 1350m. He then went to 1400m LS and was forced to sit 3WWC the entirety from a wide gate before hooking to the middle of the track and running second to STAR OF CHAOS (since ran well behind CANADIAN DANCER / then had no luck LS behind PREACH and CHATTY LADY) who had a nice time in front. I think he can settle closer today from the better draw and come over the top of them late. Keen he runs well (2 units win)
