2014 PGA - Wells Fargo Championship

The Wells Fargo Championship is taking place at the Quail Hollow Club which is notoriously known for its toughness. It’s the second hardest par 72 course that is not a major, with a scoring average of 73.04.
Right after the very last score card was signed in 2013, all of Quail Hollows bent grass greens were ripped up and replaced with ultra-dwarf Bermuda grass. This brings a very different element to the Wells Fargo this year, as you would know if you’ve played golf in Queensland. You can have a right to left breaking putt that can go left to right as it is all about which way the grass is growing.
In saying that I still believe that course experience and current form are still more “score influencing” components than just Bermuda grass green knowledge.
At the time of writing it looks as though all the severe weather has passed through Charlotte and the forecast should suit golfers with mild cloudy conditions and light winds.

Ricky Fowler
Ricky Fowler missed the cut last week in New Orleans and if he didn’t I think he would be closer to 18-1. He finished 5th in the Masters and 6th in Houston not to mention this is the very course that handed Fowler his first PGA Tour win.

Webb Simpson
Webb Simpson is a member of Quail Hollow. This speaks for itself. He is a great driver of the ball ranked 36th. Fantastic srambler (ranked 31st) and one of the best putters which is evident by his ranking in strokes gained at 8th. These three categories are very important at Quail Hollow this week.
