Caulfield Heath will host midweek racing this week and after a cool start to summer in Melbourne, 29 degrees is expected for participants. We are back to the popular twilight starting time for midweek racing and the first of eight races will commence at 3:40pm (AEDT) on a Soft track. The maidens start us off but my best three plays of the day come up later in the program.

Caulfield Heath Racing Tips: Wednesday, December 3rd 2025
Race 6: Sportsbet Same Race Multi Handicap 1200m - 6:30pm (AEDT)
(8) Miss Altair has drawn well in barrier 2 and the mare should run well if she jumps well this time. Last start at Ararat she was slow out when 4th but she did make up good late ground on that occasion and the extra 100m should help here. We want her to settle in around 4th position in this race and despite never placing on a Soft track previously, the track may be closer to Good by this time of the day.
(6) Untapped settled handy and ran 3rd at this venue last start and from barrier 4 should get a similar run in transit. Beau Mertens sticks with him after placing on top in both starts.
(11) Hustle In Heels is the fav after running well (2nd) at this track last time. She had barrier 1 on that occasion and has drawn wide in 10 this time which is the worry.
(8) Miss Altair Each-Way
$6.50/$2.40 (0.50 Units)
Race 7: Sportsbet Get On Extra Handicap 1800m - 7pm (AEDT)
(3) Touchdown is in very good form and can win again for the Hayes team at his first try over this journey. He had a good barrier (3) and Luke Currie on when saluting at this track last time and under similar conditions and opposition he should be closing close from barrier 7. Does rise 2.5kg which is a slight concern so we will want more than even money.
(4) Fiorenot has drawn poorly in barrier 11 but did stick on quite well when 3rd behind Touchdown last start. He may need the track to dry out to Good to have a winning chance though. Jordan Childs knows him well though and always rides well on this one.
(6) Albanian I Am has run three placings in a row and can Place again at nice odds. Hasn’t won in 18 months but did run a good 2nd in the Donald Cup last time. May need a Good track.
(3) Touchdown WIN
$2.00 (4 Units)
Race 8: Sportsbet Fixed Odds Exotics Handicap 1600m - 7:30pm (AEDT)
(1) Empire Of Pain got defeated by a nose at this track last start and will be better for that run. Ethan Brown stays on and I think he might try and lead all of the way to win the last. Jamie Mott was on when the Empire led all of the way at Kyneton three starts back and he is even fitter now and the Begg stable is in very good form.
(4) On Broadway settled 2nd in the run and won at this track last start and will likely settle close to the speed again. Has been penalised 2.5kg for that win and is untried on Soft ground.
(7) Farewell To Eire has drawn very wide in 12 and really is having no luck with barrier draws lately. She likes this distance though and she has placed at Caulfield Heath previously.
(1) Empire Of Pain Each-Way
$3.80/$1.60 (1U/2U)
