June 13th 2023, 3:46pm, By: Brendan Bunworth

Sandown Racing Tips

Sandown’s Hillside Circuit (Ladbrokes Park) hosts eight races on Wednesday on program that looks a fairly strong one on screen. Runners will run on a likely Soft 6 ground, and the first race of the day gets us underway at 12:25pm (AEST).

Check out our best bets for Sandown below, and make sure to head over to our Racing Tips page for more Wednesday content.

Sandown Racing Tips – Wednesday, June 14th 2023

Race 2: Tile Importer Handicap - 1pm (AEST)

*SCRATCHED* (1) My Brother’s Keeper is very fit now and almost got there for Dan Stackhouse at Flemington last start when 3rd beaten half a length. Stacky sticks with him here and even though he will get back, he should be very strong late again. His last 3 starts have been in 150k City races and he should find this a little easier.

(2) Reservoir Dog is fully fit now and was 9th in the same race as My Brother’s Keeper. The stable has a good opinion of him and this is one of the easier races that he has been in.

(4) Whakamana likes wet tracks so will want rain in the lead up to the race, but i'm not sure that he will get that. It was a good 3rd in a Group 3 race at Morphettville last start and he is too classy to leave out of the placings.

(5) Daddy Frank has drawn inside and did win well at Ararat after settling handy. Still learning but can run well.

(1) My Brother’s Keeper

SCR

Race 3: Tobin Brothers Celebrating Lives Handicap - 1:35pm (AEST)

(3) Ferlazzzo was 2nd at Mornington when beaten a nose last time and the Price/Kent stable have opted for a bigger track here which could make all the difference. She has ran on very nicely her last 3 starts but Mornington straight may have been too tight and too short last time. She likes Soft tracks and she loses nothing with Blake Shinn replacing Damien Oliver for the ride.

(6) Pasheona can handle tracks with the sting out of the ground and with a more experienced jockey in John Allen on, she may be an improver at her second try over this distance.

(5) Regal Vow goes quite well on the Soft

(2) Born Hustler ran on well for 3rd at Mornington and she is another who may appreciate a bigger track. Wiramu Pinn is on for Beau Mertens.

(3) Ferlazzo

$2.40 (3 Units)

Race 7: Stow Storage Solutions Handicap - 3:55pm (AEST)

(5) Tasman Park has drawn awkwardly for Pinn in 14 but he is a horse that settles back anyway so he may jog at the start instead of getting trapped wide. He was 5th at this track on May 27 and that was a pretty good run behind a couple of smart ones. He has a very good winning strike rate having won 3 from 5 starts and is versatile on any going. With luck early, he will be hitting the line late.

(6) Vitruvius has placed in 3 of 5 on the Soft and didn't get much luck last start for the Nick Ryan stable when 12th in the same race as Tasman Park. He had barrier 16 that day which put his chances out of reach really and he has drawn a little closer in 10 here.

(2) El Rocko has drawn well in 3 and has a chance to sit handy in this one. He was okay when 4th behind Brayden’s Star last time and this is easier.

(10) Big Brew is pretty fit now after 4 runs from a spell and can place at odds. Ran well in a jumpout last week (2nd) and has been in the money 7 from 18 starts on the Soft.

(11) The Art Of Flying has been mixing his form of late but barrier 2 should assist him getting a cozy run here. Has placed at Hillside previously and he is slightly down in class.

(5) Tasman Park

$4.40 (2 Units)

Race 8: Thoroughbred Australia Handicap - 4:30pm (AEST)

(14) Monarch’s Brae was a beaten favourite at Mornington last start (5th) but should improve on a similar surface here. Before that he won at Bendigo (Soft 5) and Blake Shinn is a good appointment from the Waller stable. He will settle around midfield and will get every chance to strike down the longer straight here.

(16) Hard Squeeze has won 2 from 5 on Soft ground and did run a good 2nd in a trial behind Riverplate at Moe last week.

(13) Nijiko has drawn wide for Maddi Raymond (14) so John Allen will have a hard task getting over as he is a leader. Allen has won on him 3 times though.

(11) Sir Rockford is fit and firing after winning well at Sale last start with Ollie on. Ben Melham takes the ride this time so the Laing stable doesn’t lose much quality.

(14) Monarch’s Brae

$4.50 (2 Units)
