Warriors vs Cowboys Predictions & Tips: NRL Round 16 2026
They’re better than that
The Warriors took a step backwards last week in their 10-8 loss to the Sharks at home, failing to generate the usual pressure and momentum they have for majority of the season. Credit must go to their opponents for their standard of execution, but the Warriors will also know that their performance was below their standard. With just 45% possession they completed at 79%, ran for just 7.9m per carry, had 423 PCM’s, made only 2 line breaks, and missed 35 tackles. Thankfully, they still hold onto their 2nd place on the competition ladder but similar performances to that one will see them quickly slide down and perhaps be in danger of missing the Finals altogether.
Hard to read
Finally, the Cowboys enjoyed a week off in Round 15 following a disappointing 40-14 home defeat to the Dolphins. Outplayed and lacking enthusiasm, the Cowboys struggled with several key players absent. Nevertheless, the performance which they produced was poor. With just 45% possession, they completed at 78% and ran for 700m fewer than their opponents. This saw them trail the Dolphins in every key area. Their defence was poor too, allowing 700+ PCM’s, conceding 7 line breaks, and missing 49 tackles throughout the contest. Perhaps the break has come at the right time for them as these areas are impacted by player fatigue and can be a slippery slope if they become a habit for them.
Stats that matter
- The Warriors have won 7 of the past 10 against the Cowboys. As this is the first time either team plays at this new stadium, it remains to be seen just how they respond to the indoor environment.
- In the past 5 matches between these two sides, only two have been decided by fewer than 14 points. This leaves the average margin of victory at 20 points. Interestingly, the total points score is lower than expected for a victory margin so high; the average total points is 47.2 points.
- The Warriors sit second on the ladder for a reason and have a superior attacking and defensive record compared to their opponents. They score 28ppg in attack and allow just 17ppg defensively. The Cowboys struggle to limit their opponents’ points, allow 25ppg, yet still average 24ppg in attack.
Consistency wins
It’s a simple formula at this level; remain consistent and you should be in a strong position to win a match. Throughout 2026, the Warriors have set this standard, and it is a large reason why they sit so high on the ladder. At the other end of the spectrum are the Cowboys. Even if the Warriors choose to rest their Origin players (they are likely to feature for the Cowboys), they should still be too strong. Do not underestimate the value of having the Bye though for the visitors. It was their first for the season and the Warriors have a challenging game to recover from. If anything, this might keep the margin of victory far smaller than their respective positions on the ladder would indicate. For that reason, keep your stake low and take on the line, which will hopefully allow for a narrow Warriors victory.

Warriors vs Cowboys Same Game Multi
Leg 1 = Total points under 51.5 – see above for justification of this leg.
Leg 2 = Taulagi to score – he enjoys playing the Warriors, with 3 tries from his past 4 matches against them. His recent form has been positive too since returning, scoring 5 tries from as many matches.
Leg 3 = Martin to score – he is a man in form with 4 tries from as many NRL matches. Despite not scoring in his past 3 games against the Cowboys, this should give him the confidence needed to cross the line in this contest.
