The opening round of the NBL27 season concludes on Tuesday night with the Brisbane Bullets hosting the New Zealand Breakers in a unique open-air clash at Pat Rafter Arena.
It will be our first look at the new-look Bullets in a competitive game, while the Breakers arrive in Brisbane with a significant advantage in that regard after opening their campaign with an impressive 95-81 victory over the Illawarra Hawks on Sunday.

Can the Bullets bounce back in NBL27?
There has been another substantial overhaul in Brisbane as the Bullets attempt to put several disappointing seasons behind them. Will Weaver takes charge of a roster featuring a number of new faces, meaning there is plenty of intrigue around exactly how quickly this group can come together.
The Bullets showed some promising signs at the NBL Blitz, highlighted by a 112-91 victory over Tasmania, before losing 113-105 to South East Melbourne. Their final pre-season hit-out was considerably less encouraging, however, with Cairns running away with a 129-98 victory.
Nate Hinton was one of the positives from that loss with 24 points, seven rebounds and four assists, while Tyrell Harrison contributed 18 points and Jaylin Williams finished with 17 points, six assists and five rebounds.
One of the early challenges for Brisbane is their wing depth. Taine Murray and Sam McDaniel were both ruled out for the early part of the season in September, leaving the Bullets somewhat undermanned as they begin their campaign.
Breakers start season with great win
The Breakers could hardly have asked for a better start under new coach Gordon Herbert.
New Zealand controlled Sunday's season opener against Illawarra for most of the afternoon, eventually recording a comfortable 95-81 victory. They shot 48% from the field and, perhaps most impressively for a team featuring plenty of new pieces, committed only five turnovers.
Sam Mennenga was outstanding with 27 points and eight rebounds, while Parker Jackson-Cartwright immediately reminded everyone why he remains one of the league's premier guards. Jackson-Cartwright finished with 23 points and 13 assists, consistently creating quality looks for both himself and his teammates.
DJ Vasiljevic also made an immediate impact in Breakers colours, knocking down six three-pointers on his way to 24 points. That gives New Zealand three legitimate offensive threats Brisbane will need to contain.
The Breakers aren't at full strength, with import Josiah-Jordan James sidelined by a hamstring injury, while Kouat Noi was forced out of Sunday's game early. The quick turnaround and travel from Auckland to Brisbane also gives them only two days between games.
Bullets vs Breakers Match Prediction
This is an interesting matchup because we're comparing a Brisbane side playing its first competitive game with a Breakers team we've already had the opportunity to assess.
What we saw from New Zealand on Sunday was encouraging. Jackson-Cartwright controlled the offence, Mennenga was extremely difficult to contain inside and Vasiljevic gave them another dangerous perimeter scorer. The Breakers were also remarkably efficient with the basketball for a team playing its first game under a new coach.
Brisbane certainly have enough talent to cause problems and the home-court advantage should help, but their defensive performance against Cairns in the final pre-season game was a concern. Giving up 129 points is difficult to ignore, especially when coming up against the Breakers who just produced three 20-point scorers in their season opener.
The major counterargument is the schedule. New Zealand have to back up just 48 hours after facing Illawarra and travel across the Tasman, while Brisbane have been able to prepare specifically for this matchup.
Containing Jackson-Cartwright shapes as Brisbane's biggest defensive challenge. He produced 23 points and 13 assists against Illawarra and was able to dictate the game without turning the basketball over excessively. If Brisbane allow PJC to consistently get into the paint, the Bullets then have to choose between allowing him to score or sending additional help and opening opportunities for Mennenga, Vasiljevic and New Zealand's perimeter shooters. The Breakers looked settled, whereas there are too many unknowns about the Bullets and their pre-season form to have much confidence.
