Rosehill Gardens Racing Tips: Saturday, September 12th 2026

Race 4 – Precise Air BM88  - 1800m – BM88 (1:35pm AEST)

(5) Aethelflaed – 6YO Mare who has shown she has ability but has had some trouble with injuries. Has looked good in her two trials leading into this and if she is bursting on all cylinders, she will be going close. Worth thought at the price. Value.

(7) Mukhtalif – This talented 5YO gelding shapes as one of the best bets on the program. Forget his first-up run over the mile—he was fresh on a Heavy track and had every right to tire. He now steps up to 1800m, a distance he dominated last preparation, and crucially gets back on a Good surface. Carrying a light 55kg, he gets a massive boost with James McDonald taking the ride. The speed map looks highly advantageous; with minimal tempo expected, J-Mac can slide across from barrier 9 to control the speed. If he can dictate the pace without burning too much fuel early, he will be incredibly tough to get past. Firmer ground, peak fitness, and the right distance make him the one to beat.

(10) Anthracite – 6YO Gelding who has been racing well but just hasn’t been able to notch up a fourth career win. Rises to BM88 grade now but gets in with only 52kg on the back and back to 1800m looks ideal where he is a previous winner. Opened at $2.20 but has drifted to $2.70. Rock hard fit and will be thereabouts.

(7) Mukhtalif - WIN

$2.45 (3.5 Units)

Race 7 – Irresistible Pools Sheraco Stakes – 1200m – GROUP 2 (3:25pm AEST)

(1) Lady Shenandoah – 5YO Mare who probably has the best credentials coming into this race and has been competing well at Group 1 level. Fourth first up behind the very good Autumn Glow & Sheza Alibi, so is going well enough. Fitter second up but dropping to 1200m and the wide draw look the only worry. Still capable of a big race though. Will need luck

(2) Lazzura – This 5YO mare looks primed to strike first-up. She was outstanding last prep, narrowly missing in the Group 2 Millie Fox before breaking through for an impressive Group 1 Coolmore victory. Her subsequent third-up run was better than it looked on paper, where she was badly held up before flying late to chase home Beiwacht. Spaced and given a good break, she has trialled twice to prepare for her return. James McDonald sticks, which is a massive plus, and from a soft draw, she maps to get the perfect run. Dropping back to Group 2 Fillies & Mares company is a major class drop given her elite form. With G1 class, a solid fitness base, and the right map, she is clearly the one to beat. Happy to be on.

(8) Weeping Woman –  6YO Mare who is first up today and will be full of confidence coming of an unbeaten campaign (4 wins) and has then trialled superbly with two wins. Proven fresh, conditions suit and loves this trip. Drawn low and maps to get a nice enough run up on the speed. Will have plenty of admirers.

(2) Lazzura - WIN

$3.30 (2.5 Units)

Race 9 – Toyota Forklifts Theo Marks Stakes – 1300m – GROUP 2 (4:40pm AEST)

(2) Militarize –  6YO Gelding who has been awfully hard to catch and has gone sometime without a win which is a concern. However, on paper his credentials and data stack up nicely for this affair. James McDonald remains in the saddle, drawn okay which allows for a nice run throughout and is proven fresh. Already $17.00 into $13.00 in the early market which is a nice push. This prep he has to be improved or else he will be permanently put in the sack file. Happy to have crack at the price.

(5) Midnight In Tokyo – 7YO Mare who is racing well and gets every chance again here to go on with things. Drawn well and Ben Thompson returns to Sydney to ride. Of note, Soothsayer has since gone enormous finishing second behind HEADLEY GRANGE last week. Only query is the dry track as he is yet to win on a good surface. Watch the market.

(6) Skyhook – 4YO who was superb last prep closing things out with 2 wins and a second. His finishing run was an impressive 3.3L win at group 3 level over 1600m on the heavy. He has trialled well and 1300m looks a nice spot to kick things off. Proven fresh and likes this track. Only query is the wide draw, so will need a little luck. At the current quote he looks a nice enough bet but wouldn’t be keen on anything shorter.

(2) Militarized - E/W

$13/$3.75 (0.5U/1.5U)
