Round 6 will get underway on Friday night with a blockbuster clash between the Hawks and the Kangaroos, followed by four game slates on both Saturday and Sunday.

2026 AFLW Round 6 Betting Tips
Hawthorn vs North Melbourne

North Melbourne travels to tropical North Queensland on a short five-day turnaround to open Round 6 against Hawthorn at Cazalys Stadium. The Kangaroos were heavily tested in a tight 33-23 SuperClash victory over Carlton last Sunday, extending their incredible winning streak to 32 matches. Ash Riddell was masterful with 39 disposals and 521 metres gained, while Jasmine Garner controlled the coalface with 30 touches and five clearances. Hawthorn arrives in Cairns after grinding out a 41-30 victory over the Western Bulldogs to cement their status as genuine finals contenders.
Despite the Hawks' solid form, history is heavily stacked against them in this matchup. These teams met twice within the space of a week last year, with North Melbourne handing Hawthorn two brutal football lessons. The Kangaroos dominated 67-18 in their first clash before ruthlessly keeping the Hawks goalless in a 42-3 qualifying final demolition. Compounding Hawthorn's immense challenge, they suffered a devastating blow last week when captain and premier midfielder Emily Bates ruptured her right ACL. Without their most vital on-baller to combat Garner and Riddell, the Hawks will be severely outclassed at the stoppages. Take the Roos to continue their dominance in this matchup and cover the spread.

Collingwood vs Geelong Cats
Saturday 12:35pm AEST, Victoria Park, Melbourne
Collingwood returns to Victoria Park still hunting their first win of 2026 after falling 32-62 to Gold Coast at People First Stadium. Geelong, meanwhile, enters off a statement 57-46 road win over Adelaide at Unley Oval, driven by a flawless 10-vote Coaches vote performance from Georgie Prespakis in the middle.
While Geelong holds a clear midfield edge, clearing a 28.5-point line on the road is a tough task. The Magpies tend to drop numbers back at Victoria Park to restrict space and slow down opposition transition. The Cats should dictate terms and bank the four points, but Collingwood has enough defensive grit at home to keep the final margin within four or five goals. Backing the Magpies with the start is the lean, albeit with low confidence.

Melbourne vs Carlton

Melbourne continued their formidable start to 2026 with a commanding 74-23 victory over Port Adelaide at Casey Fields last weekend. Maeve Chaplin was instrumental across half-back, earning nine coaches' votes for her 27 disposals and six intercepts, while Olivia Purcell dominated the middle with 30 touches and 11 tackles. Carlton heads to Cranbourne East off their first defeat of the season, falling 23-33 to North Melbourne in a fiercely contested SuperClash at Arden Street. Despite the loss, Harriet Cordner was exceptional in defence for the Blues, collecting eight coaches' votes.
While Carlton pushed the reigning premiers to the limit last week, backing up that level of intensity against another top-tier side is a monumental challenge. Melbourne's ability to generate high-scoring chains at Casey Fields will stretch the Blues' defensive structures over four quarters. Carlton's midfield is highly competitive, but the Demons possess too much class on the outside and should methodically break the visitors down. Back Melbourne to control the territory battle on their home deck and cover the handicap.

Port Adelaide vs Sydney Swans

Port Adelaide returns to Alberton Oval looking to reset after a heavy 23-74 defeat to Melbourne at Casey Fields, where they managed just two goals in testing conditions. They face a 4-1 Sydney outfit full of confidence following an 87-56 victory over the Giants in the Sydney Derby, led by Chloe Molloy’s four goals and a 29-disposal display from Laura Gardiner.
The loss of Sofia Hurley to an ankle injury definitely hurts the Swans, but they have sufficient midfield depth and versatility to rotate quality options through the engine room and maintain their clearance standard. Port Adelaide also faces structural issues of their own, with defender Ella Heads ruled out through suspension, leaving a vulnerable hole in their backline against Sydney's dangerous forward setup. With the Power struggling for avenues to goal, Sydney possesses too much polish across the ground and should cover the 12.5-point line on the road.

Fremantle vs Western Bulldogs

Fremantle returns to Fremantle Oval riding high after a gritty 37-22 victory over Essendon last Sunday. The Dockers showed immense resilience in that physical clash, overcoming the late withdrawal of star ruck Mim Strom with a shoulder injury and losing key defender Emma O'Driscoll to an ankle issue in the opening minutes. Kiara Bowers was phenomenal in the midfield, racking up 26 disposals, 17 contested possessions and nine tackles to will her side over the line.
The Western Bulldogs travel across the country looking to bounce back from a frustrating 30-41 defeat to Hawthorn. The Dogs controlled the early proceedings to take an 11-point half-time lead, only to concede five unanswered goals in a costly third-quarter lapse. While the Bulldogs possess the talent to test Fremantle, taking on a hardened Dockers unit in Perth is a massive challenge. Fremantle's ability to suffocate opposition transition and dominate the stoppage battle makes them incredibly difficult to beat on their home deck. Back the Dockers to secure another methodical victory.

GWS Giants vs Richmond

Travelling to RSEA Park presents a challenge, but West Coast's current form is undeniably stronger than a St Kilda outfit struggling for four-quarter consistency. Brisbane Lions vs Adelaide Crows

This shapes as a heavyweight clash at Hickey Park. Brisbane returns home after surviving a major scare against West Coast, edging the Eagles 46-41 in Perth. Adelaide travels to Queensland full of momentum after a highly impressive 57-46 victory over Geelong at Unley Oval.
While the Crows were excellent against the Cats, travelling to face the Lions at Hickey Park remains one of the toughest assignments in the AFLW. Brisbane will be eager to put their sluggish performance in the west behind them and reassert their dominance. The Lions have a proven ability to elevate their intensity in blockbuster matches, and their home-ground advantage should be enough to see them cover the line against a dangerous Adelaide side.
