Morphettville Racing Tips: Saturday May 6th

May 5th 2023, 4:49pm, By: Daniel Nuttall

Morphettville Racing Tips

The Adelaide Carnival rolls on with the running of the Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes and a ripper field is engaged. I’ll preview that race as well as the other four black-type races on the card.

Check out my best bets for Morphettville below, and remember to head over to our Racing Tips page for more free betting tips!

Morphettville Racing Tips – Saturday, May 6th 2023

Race 4: Group 3 D C McKay Stakes (1100m – 2:32pm AEST)

(2) Savatoxl – Speedy gelding who returned in good order at Alice Springs. This is obviously harder, but he likes this track and ran a super race in this affair last year. He’ll take catching.

(8) Gaze Grise – Expecting sharp improvement from this mare here with the blinkers going on. She just missed Taunting two back and then was a little plain last start. She drops 2.5kg for this. Good roughie.

(3) General Beau – Goes well fresh, however hasn’t won in some time. Two jumpouts leading into this were ok at best. He was around the mark in two much stronger sprint races in the spring, including 3L off Private Eye in the Gilgai Stakes.

(2) Savatoxl - Win

$4.85 (1 Unit)

Race 5: Listed Without Fear Stakes (1050m – 3:07pm AEST)

(4) Chilled (BEST BET) – Nice filly who won here fresh, holding off a subsequent listed winner in Stretan Angel. She looked the winner last but was just no match for the winner late. Dropping back in trip suits.

(6) Acappella Moon – She’ll be up on the speed with Chilled, probably leading them up. She was a little slow into stride last start and had to work overtime to find the front before tiring.

(8) Causation – Fitter for two runs this spell. Measured up in stakes grade last start and gave a good sight up on the speed. Still a maiden but is talented enough to win a race like this.

(4) Chilled - Win

$4.95 (3 Units)

Race 6: Group 2 Queen of the South Stakes (1600m – 3:45pm AEST)

(8) Miss You Ella – US import debuting in Australia. She’s had three jumpouts, winning her most recent impressively. 1600m is a suitable kick-off point for her and she has a fresh win on the CV.

(2) My Whisper – She looked in need of the run fresh, although wasn’t far from the winner. Fitter for the run and is a three-time winner over the mile. She’s a classy mare and with luck from the wide draw, she’ll be in the finish.

(4) Foxy Frida – Came back in good order with a determined win at Bendigo as the first two raced right away from the rest of the field. Goes well second up and is suited rising in trip.

(8 Miss You Ella - Each Way

$12/$3.55 (0.5u/1u)

Race 7: Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes (1200m – 4:25pm AEST)

(6) Passive Aggressive – Didn’t handle the heavy track in an elite sprint race last start. She won a Challenge Stakes on resumption, defeating Eduardo and a subsequent Group 1 winner in Giga Kick. Drawn ideally and will be parked up on the speed.

(5) September Run – She didn’t have much room in the William Reid Stakes last start and still finished fourth. Excellent mare who can mix her form but can never be left out. She ran well in this race last year.

(7) Espiona – Potential star early on before her form tapered off a bit. Not this prep though, as she’s won her pas two including a Group 1 against her own sex. Is 1200m her best trip? Probably not, but she has plenty of class and is in a good groove at the moment.

(6) Passive Aggressive - Win

$5.40 (1 Unit)

Race 8: Group 2 Tobin Bronze Stakes (1200m – 5:05pm AEST)

(5) Wee Nessy (NEXT BEST) – Such an honest filly who took on a hot race in Sydney last start, beating all bar the smart Aft Cabin. That’s great form for this. She maps for a soft run and handles all conditions.

(7) She Dances – Up in class after a dominant win last start. She likely leads this from the good barrier which is a good place to be at this track. Progressing nicely this prep, has a great record and is up to this level.

(1)   Renosu – Has drawn poorly again which is the query but with a touch of luck he can figure. He had a tough run last start and faded very late, but it was a brave run considering. The 2nd to What You Need two back reads well.

(5) Wee Nessy - Win

$5.50 (2 Units)
