Moonee Valley Racing Tips: Saturday September 9th

September 8th 2023, 10:27am, By: Brendan Bunworth

Moonee Valley Racing Tips

The Valley will host Group 1 Racing on Saturday as the Feehan Stakes highlights the program. The McKewan Stakes is also a feature of the day as is the return of Caulfield and Melbourne Cup hopefuls. The track will likely be Soft with race one starting at 12:10pm (AEST). Every race has been covered and hopefully we can return a profit on the day.

Check out Brendan Bunworth’s best bets for Moonee Valley below and make sure to head over to our Racing Tips page for more free Saturday tips from around the country!

Moonee Valley Racing Tips: Saturday, September 9th 2023

Race 1: Inglis Ready to Race Sale - 12:10pm (AEST)

(7) Autumn Angel won well at Lakeside after round them up well down the home straight and second up here, she is a big chance to win again for the Moody & Coleman combination. Billy Egan rides again after winning last time and she has drawn well in barrier 3. She will likely sit 4th on the outside and be strong to the line. This is harder but she is only carrying 54.5kg at this stage.

(3) Fistfulloffury is fitter now and has drawn the inside barrier but will need luck to get out on the turn.

(5) Warlords has had a freshen up and has the blinkers on for the first time.

(8) Merrigold may lead this field and will want to control the tempo.

(7) Autumn Angel - Win

$2.40 (3 Units)

Race 2: PFD Food Services Handicap - 12:40pm (AEST)

(11) The Creator may try to lead these and should be primed to run well after 3 quality runs from a spell. Beau Mertens sticks with him and we will have to see if he can handle The Valley for the first time. Has won on the Soft before.

(14) Oubitsa has Kah on replacing Michelle Payne and this horse has been racing well around the provincials.

(1) Vitruvius has drawn well in 3 for Nick Ryan and despite finishing 8th his last couple, he wasn’t beaten too far.

(4) Polanco runs better on Soft tracks and can place at big odds.

(11) The Creator - Win

$8 (1 Unit)

Race 3: Ladbrokes Challenger Handicap - 1:15pm (AEST)

(4) Magnaspin has drawn well in 2 and he has only missed a placing twice when on Soft ground. He is 1 from 1 over this track & distance and does get Blake Shinn for the first time who is riding really well. He is versatile in the run but from barrier 2 he may roll forward.

(2) Pachino has won 2 of 3 starts on Soft ground and his last 4th at Randwick was very solid.

(5) Superstock has drawn wide in 11 but did win for us last start when we backed him on BYB. Williams sticks with him.

(13) Rokeby Road is racing very consistently and rarely gets beaten far when loses. Should be with 3L at the end.

(4) Magnaspin - Win

$3.20 (2 Units)

Race 4: Drummond Golf Handicap - 1:50pm (AEST)

(5) Recommendation ticks a lot of boxes here and should win after rolling forward in this event. He got back at this track when first up (2nd) and he is a horse that usually settles closer to the lead. From barrier 4 Carleen Hefel should be able to take him to the front and he should lead all of the way. He is 2 from 2 on the Soft and is better than these.

(2) Savannah Cloud won first up at Caulfield and his confidence might be up. Might settle just behind Recommendation in the run.

(1) Corner Pocket goes very well first up and has a 50 percent winning strike rate. Will likely settle 4th or 5th in the run.

(6) Gemma’s Son has Kah on and is first up. WA visitor.

(5) Recommendation - Win

$1.75 (4 Units)

Race 5: McMahon’s Dairy McKenzie Stakes - 2:25pm (AEST)

(4) Steparty resumes here for the Preusker Team and is unbeaten in all 3 starts. Johnny Allen is on this time replacing Dean Yendall and the horse has won 2 times already on the Soft ground. He will likely sit close to the lead and be too good but the Stable’s Grand Final is still 8 weeks away.

(3) Brave Mead usually has Johnny Allen on, who is riding Steparty but he loses nothing with Mark Zahra on. He has started short odds in 3 of his 4 runs and another big run is expected.

(6) Introducing comes over from Rosehill after having 2 runs this prep and is likely one of the fitter ones in this race.

(1) Amur has drawn inside and will get back. Will be running on but i think a 4th is his bets chance.

(4) Steparty - Win

$2.40 (3 Units)

Race 6: Musk Creek Farm Atlantic Jewell Stakes - 3pm (AEST)

(1) Charm Stone is second up here and has won when second up previously. On resumption at Caulfield she was quite a long way back in the run before she let down with a very nice win. I think she would be fitter now and with Damien Lane staying on, I think he can make it 3 from 3 on the filly. She is 1 from 1 on the Soft and the only concern is barrier 9 potentially.

(8) Oz Empress is another who is second up and this one will go quickly early to try and get near the lead.

(7) Right To Party similar to Charm Stone, goes well second up and can handle Soft ground. She has never been out of the placings.

(5) Inhibitions likes The Valley and has won twice over this distance. Was backed to win last start and saluted for punters.

(1) Charm Stone - Win

$3.40 (2 Units)

Race 7: Strathmore Community Bendigo Bank Handicap - 3:35pm (AEST)

(7) Berkeley Square is a lot fitter now and up to a more suitable distance. He was pretty good without winning at his two starts back from a spell (3rd and 4th) but now it gets serious for the O’Sullivan camp who want to notch up a couple of wins this Spring. He is 1 from 1 over this track & distance and he should get a nice cart into the race from around midfield. Barrier 6 is a good get which should enable him to position up nicely.

(3) Young Werther has only won 2 from 23 starts but has placed in some very good races. Won’t want any rain on the day.

(11) Future History will be handy to the lead early and will hope they don’t go too hard too early. A Good or Soft track is fine.

(13) Born a King comes over from NSW and has raced in harder races than this. Likes this distance and is a good Place chance.

(7) Berkeley Square - Win

$4 (2 Units)

Race 8: Mittys McKewan Stakes (Group 2) - 4:15pm (AEST)

(1) Giga Kick has raced over this distance on 2 occasions before resulting in a 1st and 3rd. He has nearly notched up 10million dollars in prizemoney and is a proven multiple Group 1 winner. He jumped out well in readiness for this and he should settle around 4th in the run. First try at The Valley.

(5) Imperatriz will likely try to stalk Giga Kick but the fav is going to be very hard to get passed down the short straight. The Waller trained mare won a Group 1 race at this track though before her spell so at least she has been around The Valley before.

(2) Rothfire has also won at The Valley before and has won 4 times over this distance. He beat Zousyle in a Doomben trial last week and should run a big race.

(3) Zoustyle may settle 2nd or 3rd in the run and has placed at The Valley before. Has won 5 from 10 when first up.

(1) Giga Kick - Win

$1.90 (4 Units)

Race 9: Clamms Seafood Feehan Stakes (Group 2) - 4:50pm (AEST)

(13) Attrition is good when fresh and ran a good 5th behind Mr Brightside last start at Caulfield. He has only had the 7 starts for 2 wins but does race well on Good tracks which he is likely to get here. He was 8th at the 400m mark in that race and picked up 3 horses over the final 2 furlongs. He is fitter after that and meets quite a few horses who are resuming with other goals in a few weeks’ time.

(11) Globe has drawn a little wide in 12 but has won all 4 career starts. He has won over this distance but it’s his first try at The Valley.

(7) Pinstriped likes the Valley and is fit enough after 2 high quality trials and a first up 2nd at Caulfield.

(3) Francesco Guardi moves up in distance but will be needed a minimum of 2000m in a few weeks time. All eyes on the Caulfield Cup.

(13) Attrition - Win

$7.50 (1 Unit)

Race 10: Powerflo Solutions Handicap - 5:25pm (AEST)

(11) Russian Roni is second up here and has won second up previously. He has drawn well in 3 and if Winona Costin wants to, she should find the lead here where the gelding has raced well before. On resumption he was a 9L 6th behind Najem Suhail but it does usually take a run or two before this horse finds its way.

(13) Real Sensation is also second up but can get back a long way in his races. Has drawn okay in 6 and should find this race a little easier than his last few.

(10) Hennessy Lad is the likely fav and deserves to be here. Does have a wide barrier in 11 which is a slight worry but he has won over this track & distance previously.

(6) First Immortal is resuming and the Kavanagh stable has its eyes on a race later in the Spring. Has drawn poorly in 13 but does have quality.

(11) Russian Roni - Win

$11 (1 Unit)
