Sunday afternoon football returns to Leichhardt Oval, and this is exactly the sort of spot where the Tigers need to show their horror loss last week was an outlier rather than a sign of collapse. Wests were embarrassed 68-0 by Penrith, the kind of result that can either fracture a season or spark a response. At home, on a Sunday afternoon at Leichhardt, against a Titans side also missing important pieces, I’m happy to back the Tigers to bounce back and cover -5.5.
This is another Origin-affected game, so the team lists are critical. The Tigers are without Api Koroisau, who is away on Origin duty, while Royce Hunt is facing a long stint out with a pec injury. However, they do get a huge inclusion with Taylan May returning from a shoulder issue, Starford To’a is back, Sione Fainu returns from concussion, and Jahream Bula, Sunia Turuva, Jarome Luai, Jock Madden, Terrell May and Fonua Pole are all named. The Titans lose Tino Fa’asuamaleaui and Jojo Fifita to Origin, while Chris Randall is out with concussion, forcing reshuffles that include Oliver Pascoe at hooker and Jaylan De Groot returning in the centres.

Tigers vs Titans Prediction & Tips: 2026 NRL Round 15
Tigers Need a Response After Embarrassment
There is no sugar-coating last week. The Tigers’ 68-0 loss to Penrith was a complete disaster and the type of defeat that becomes a season marker. It was Penrith’s biggest win in club history and one of the largest winning margins in NSWRL/NRL history, with the Panthers producing 16 line breaks to the Tigers’ one. Nathan Cleary dominated, Tom Jenkins scored twice and ran for 276 metres, and Wests simply had no answer once the game got away.
For the Tigers, the concern was not just the scoreboard. It was the way they folded. They have conceded heavily across recent weeks, and that raises obvious questions about confidence, defensive trust and the impact of losing key players at the wrong time. Jarome Luai was heavily criticised after a quiet first half, and the Tigers’ middle and edges were opened up far too easily.
That said, this is a vastly different spot. Penrith are the competition benchmark. The Titans are not. Leichhardt Oval changes the emotional energy of the week, and getting May, To’a and Sione Fainu back into the side gives the Tigers a stronger look than the team that was embarrassed last week. Losing Koroisau is significant, because he is the side’s best ruck organiser and one of their key leaders, but Latu Fainu has the talent to provide tempo, and Luai still gives them enough experience to manage the game.
The Tigers do not need to be perfect. They need to restore pride, win the early contact and use the crowd. After a 68-point loss, the first 20 minutes will tell us plenty.
Titans Coming Off Their Best Win
Gold Coast’s 28-23 win over Brisbane last week was one of the best moments of their season, and Keano Kini’s late match winner will be replayed for a long time. The Titans trailed early 12-0, fought their way back through Jayden Campbell’s double, and then stole it in the 77th minute when Kini chipped ahead from 55 metres, regathered, and raced away to score after Adam Reynolds had seemingly put Brisbane ahead with a field goal.
That win ended a five-game losing streak and gave the Titans something genuine to build around. Kini, Campbell and Zane Harrison gave them spark, and under Josh Hannay they finally showed enough late game courage to turn a near miss into a result. It was not perfect, but emotionally it was massive.
The challenge is backing it up, particularly with Tino and Jojo Fifita unavailable through Origin. Tino is not just a middle forward; he is their captain, their most important physical presence and the player who sets the emotional tone. Jojo takes away strike and yardage on an edge, while Randall’s concussion removes another ruck option. That forces more pressure on rookie Oliver Pascoe, who has been a revelation this season in the 9 for the Titans.
There is still danger. Kini and Campbell can create from nothing, and AJ Brimson gives them another ball playing threat in the centres. But the Titans have not consistently managed physical away games well, and Leichhardt after a Tigers humiliation is exactly the type of environment that can become uncomfortable if Gold Coast start slowly.
Tigers vs Titans Recent History
These sides split last season’s meetings. The Tigers won 21-20 at Leichhardt in Round 20, with Adam Doueihi kicking the field goal in a tight contest, while the Titans won 36-28 on the Gold Coast in Round 27. Go back further and Gold Coast also won both 2023 matchups, while the Tigers won 18-10 in 2024, also at Leichhardt Oval.
Recent results:
• 2025 Round 27: Titans def Tigers 36-28
• 2025 Round 20: Tigers def Titans 21-20
• 2024 Round 15: Tigers def Titans 18-10
• 2023 Round 15: Titans def Tigers 28-12
• 2023 Round 1: Titans def Tigers 22-10
Despite both teams generally having poor defensive records, these matchups have been lower scoring games. With three of the past five also being played at Leichhardt, the Titans shouldn’t be overawed by the 8th Wonder.
Tigers to Bounce Back at Leichhardt
This is a bet built on response, venue, and matchup. The Tigers were horrific last week, and there is no pretending otherwise. But that result has also created a very clear bounce-back spot against an opponent missing its most important forward and a key outside back.
I like Tigers -5.5 because Leichhardt Oval gives them a platform to start fast and play with emotion. The crowd will demand a response, and after a 68-0 loss, effort should not be negotiable. If Wests come out flat again, they have major problems. But I expect the opposite.
The Titans deserve credit for beating Brisbane, but this is a different challenge. That win was emotional, late and dramatic. Now they have to travel, back it up without Tino, and match a Tigers side that should be desperate to restore some pride. Without Tino, Gold Coast lose a lot of middle authority. Without Randall, their forward rotation changes. Without Jojo, they lose edge strike. That matters.
The Tigers still have enough attacking pieces. Bula, Turuva, May, Makasini, Luai and Madden can generate points if the middle gives them anything. Terrell May and Fonua Pole need to lead the yardage battle, while Latu Fainu simply has to keep the ruck moving and avoid overplaying his hand.
The danger is confidence. A 68-0 loss can linger. But if the Tigers score first or win the early exchanges, Leichhardt can turn quickly. I think they do enough to control the game and win by more than a converted try.

Tigers vs Titans Player Prop Bet
Arama Hau started the season in terrific form, but after a stint on the bench he hasn’t scored since round 7. Back into the starting team, I can see Jayden Campbell trying to rekindle their early season connection against a suspect Tigers’ left edge this week.
Tigers vs Titans Same Game Multi
Leg 1: Tigers (-5.5) – Going a bit harder in the multi, but a similar bet to the best bet here, just assuming the Sharks get the win.
Leg 2: A Hau (1+ try) – See best prop bet.
Leg 3: H Makasini (1+ try) – Named to start on the left wing outside Taylan May, expect the rampaging rookie to be too strong at least once for the Titans’ right edge.
