Sandown Racing Tips: Wednesday, July 2nd 2025
Race 2: MRC Membership Feel The Thrill Handicap (1300 METRES) – 1:00pm (AEST)
(5) Ten Deep returns to the races for trainers Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman. The four-year-old mare had a solitary run at her last two campaigns, both minor placings, and enters this off the back of a 1000m Pakenham jump out. Jockey Luke Cartwright will try and land a forward position from barrier one and the 3kg claim looks good on paper. This consistent mare has been placed in three from four first-up runs and has strong claims to add a first win to that column.
(2) Divino Cavallo was an impressive winner at Seymour over the 1300m and the 60kg will prove no problem for the four-year-old mare. She carried 61kg to success last time, although this is harder this time around. She is going to be back in the field but has shown a few times that she can let down strongly, with three wins from just six career starts.
(3) Vienna Vixen represents Ciaron Maher, and the five-year-old mare had a first-up success at Sale over 1212m before heading to Flemington for a close-up fourth behind Fire Of Etna. At close to double figures, happy to have something small on her also in the race.
Also backing: (3) Vienna Vixen WIN $9.10 (1 unit)
(5) Ten Deep WIN
$3.40 (2 units)
Race 3: Sportsbet BlackBook Handicap (1600 METRES) – 1:35pm (AEST)
(1) All Business is deep into her preparation with this being her ninth run for the campaign. She gets a 3kg claim with Luke Cartwright riding and the three-year-old filly was second last time out at the Sandown Hillside course. She has had two runs over the mile and performed admirably on both occasions. All Business has strong claims of breaking through for a second career win at start number 10.
(5) Chocolate Box is unproven at the mile as she steps up from the 1300m where she ran second behind Divino Cavallo at Seymour. The Wendy Kelly-trained filly has the form on the board, and if she handles the rise in trip, they are going to know she is in the race.
(2) Butternut Princess is the other key chance according to the market and she drops in grade with her last two runs coming in Benchmark 70 and 3YO company. She was third in the latter over 1440m at Caulfield on Saturday and is racing off that quick back up.
(1) All Business WIN
$3.20 (2 units)
Race 8: Sportsbet Same Race Multi Handicap (1600 METRES) – 4:30pm (AEST)
(5) Kahhof looks ready to win again, which is what the four-year-old gelding did two starts ago over the 1400m at this track. The John Moloney-trained galloper has finished in the top two in all five runs at the track (two wins) and barrier four should help Declan Bates find a suitable position in this capacity field of 16 runners. If he can produce his last two runs, then he will prove hardest to beat.
(6) Outta Compton has won two from five this preparation, including a Benchmark 70 victory over 1500m at Sandown Hillside last start. Two starts ago he chased home Kahhof when beaten 1.56 lengths and it could be a good clash between the pair once again.
(13) Extreme Virtue is a four-year-old mare for Team Hayes, and she is knocking on the door for a win with two minor placings and a fourth at her three runs this time in. Daniel Stackhouse picks up the ride and with her consistent form, she looms as another key contender.
(5) Kahhof WIN
$5.50 (1.5 units)
