Sandown Hillside will host a nine race program on Saturday with the first race starting at 11:55am (AEST). The two year olds start us off but we will bet on races later in the program. The track is rated as Heavy but there hasn’t been much rain around Melbourne in the last 72 hours so it will pay to re-check on raceday. A tough program to dissect but we are banking on getting at least 1 of the 3 bets below for a collect.
Brendan Bunworth brings you his Sandown best bets for the day below as well as his Quaddie selections, with odds thanks to Ladbrokes.
Sandown Racing Tips: Saturday, June 13th 2026
Race 5: Ive Handicap 1400m - 2:10pm (AEST)
(6) Big Swinger has drawn the inside and he did hit the line hard last start (3rd) which is obviously a good sign. He has placed at Hillside before and he has placed in harder races than this. Ben Allen has placed3 of 4 starts on top and he gets the ride again. Barrier 1 may be tricky but I think Allen will settle him closer in this. Drops 1kg and he has come back in good order after his freshen up in April. Been in the money 8 of 13 starts and should be reliable again here.
(3) Coeur Volante goes well 2nd up and has the ability to run on well. He has run well in harder races before and did run well when first up when 60-1 (3rd). Jackson Radley gets 3kg off so he is only carrying 53.5kg.
(4) El Rocko loves wet tracks so has to come into calculations. If he gets a cheap lead he can win. Experienced horse with an experienced jockey on top (Jamie Mott).
(6) Big Swinger WIN
$2.80 (3 Units)
Race 7: Sportsbet Same Race Multi Handicap 2400m - 3:25pm (AEST)
(7) Skipper’s Canyon has had 4 runs on the Heavy for 4 2nds. He ran a good 2nd at Caulfield last start and he has drawn well in barrier 5. He is 1 from 1 at Hillside and he remains with 56.5kg. Beaten a total of a half a length in his last couple and is knocking on the door for the Stokes stable.
(5) Simurgh is the favourite and is 1 from 1 on the Heavy. The gelding is going for three on the bounce and the Hayes team are progressing him through the grades nicely. Goes up 3kg in weight for Ben Allen.
(2) Go Daddy is big odds and was big odds last start when beaten less than a length (4th). He is again up in distance and he has placed on both occasions over the 2400m. DOes have to carry 60kg but was matching it with the above two over the final 100m last start.
(7) Skipper’s Canyon WIN
$5.00 (1.5 Units)
Race 8: Quayclean Handicap 1800m - 4:05pm (AEST)
(8) Markdane gets 2kg weight relief here so only has to carry 52kg. A rain affected track is ideal and has always placed over the 1800m. He has been a very consistent gelding for Mick Kent and he has the ability to lead them up or settle midfield with cover. Molly Bourke is on top again and she has scored on top before.
(4) Gilded Water may need more ground but can produce a good run second up. He has won twice when second up before and he is better than most of these. May go better on Dry ground so the Heavy track is a query.
(9) Sir Atlas had no luck at this track last time (7th) but is 1 from 1 on the Heavy. Has a good winning strike rate and has drawn well in 4.
(8) Markdane WIN
$3.80 (2 Units)
