Sunshine Coast Racing Tips: Saturday July 4th 2026

Sunshine Coast hosts the last weekend of the Queensland carnival, and the card features the Group 3 Winx Guineas, Listed Caloundra Cup and the listed Tab Glasshouse to see the carnival out. The track is currently rated a Heavy 8 with no rain expected on the day. The rail in its True position for the entire circuit. The first race kicks off at 12.23pm AEST.

Race 6 – Double R Group Winx Guineas - 1600m – GROUP 3 (3:23pm AEST)

(1) Platinum Pantheon – Progressive 3YO gelding who has finished second in his last two outings at Listed and Open grade. Rock hard fit and gets the heavy conditions today where he boasts an impressive 4:2-0-1 record on the heavy. Draws a sticky gate but will likely lob just off midfield and can make a move late to try and pick them up. Ben Thompson gets the ride which will boost confidence. Each way.

(2) Call Da Vinci – 3YO gelding who is a genuine wet tracker and has been sound this campaign with four placings. Only narrowly beaten by rival’s here last time. 1600m should suit. Value play.

(10) Within The Law – 3YO Filly who has been far from disgraced in her last three runs where she has competed at Group 3 and Group 1 level. Only 3L beaten over 1400m in Group 1 company last start carrying 55.5kg and was supported in the market jumping at $8.00. Gets half a kilo off her back for this and has run second three times from four attempts over the mile. She will be rock hard fit now for this and takes on much easier competition. The one they will all have to beat. On top.

Race 7 – Stanley River Thoroughbreds Caloundra Cup – 2400m – LISTED (3:58pm AEST)

(3) Pounding – 7YO gelding who has had a new lease on racing this campaign but has just been unable to win. All his runs have been full of merit and is deserving of a win. This looks easier than his last couple and will have plenty of admirers again. Will be thereabouts.

(5) Thebudgiesmugla – 5YO Gelding who has been superb of late and is unbeaten from four attempts over 2400m. Most recently won nicely in Listed company at Rosehill on the weather effected track. Has travelled up to tackle this race and is well deserved to be favourite. Genuine wet tracker, unbeaten at the trip and is rock hard fit with three weeks between runs. Hard to knock.

(13) The Irish – 6YO gelding who we were with last start after a dominant win prior and he failed to fire. We are now seeing a big price for this and albeit he rises in grade again, his form prior had been sound, and he looks to be on an upward trajectory. Gets in with a light weight and is worth a small play at the big price. Blow out hope.

Race 8 – TAB Glasshouse Handicap – 1400m - LISTED (4:45pm AEST)

(2) Cifrado – 5YO gelding who returned stylishly when storming home to score and then again second up to only miss behind the talented Abounding. Most recently he was held up at a crucial stage and can easily be forgiven. 1400m now looks ideal. Top jockey, but sticky gate. Roughie.

(5) Anemacore – 6YO gelding who is quite the talent and has been rattling home in his past two outings. The rise to 1400m now looks very good with the way he has been hitting the line. Gets the home track advantage and boasts an impressive record here with 3 wins and 2 seconds from 5 runs. Drawn well enough and should handle the going. Looks a great bet.

(8) Gerringong – 4YO Mare who has been sound in her first and second up run. Finished 3rd in group 1 last weekend and was hitting the line well. Remains at 1400m but gets back to Listed grade and gets half a kilo of her back. Can handle the conditions, drawn well and will likely dictate to her terms. Will be hard to catch on these conditions and looks good value.
