Match Preview
The Cowboys were upset by the Warriors last week in a thrilling 10-try match. A poor first half saw them trail 28-12 at HT, with a poor completion rate (73%) plaguing their progress. That was frustrating as they still carried the ball strongly (9.9m per carry), had significantly more PCM’s, and missed just 25 tackles. Their problems came with building pressure when it mattered. It appears they slipped back into old habits.
The Panthers had no such issues in their commanding 32-8 victory over the Broncos. A dazzling 5-try display gave little opportunity to their opponents, as they dictated the terms of the match. They controlled possession (53%) and completed well (82%), leading to significantly more metres in attack and 7 line breaks. Their defensive structure was against pressured (47 missed tackles) but unlike previous weeks, they scrambled well and limited their opponents’ points scoring opportunities close to the line.
The Panthers are boosted by the return of key players this week, further improving their team from a dominating display last week. Despite the Cowboys holding a superior record at home (56% vs 40%), the home team has won the past 3 matches between these two sides. That trend looks set to continue. Despite having their positives this year, the Cowboys are an unknown. With the Panthers, their class is evident. They will be out to get revenge for their loss to them earlier in the season, with the task ahead of the Cowboys made more difficult with the omission of Cotter.
The Panthers demonstrated last week that they have the right balance of firepower to combat what teams have. Despite a slow start to the season, there are signs that they are beginning to find combinations that are working for them.

Leg 1: Panthers 1-12 – this goes without saying judging by the Suggested Bet. The confidence the Cowboys have from a previous victory over the Panthers should keep things tight.
Leg 2: Total Points Under 49.5 – this option will fall upon the Panthers improving their defensive record. It was evident last week and should go to another level here. The average total points in the past 5 matches is 42.8 points.
Leg 3: To’o to score – he returns this week and will look to build on his total of 3 tries from as many matches. His power is delightful to watch and with the Panthers rediscovering their attacking spark, look for sweeping movements to his side of the field.
SGM Odds: $11 at BoomBet
