Moonee Valley Racing Tips for Friday, February 15th

February 15th 2019, 6:15pm, By: tim_tips

Welcome to our preview and horse racing betting tips for racing at Moonee Valley on Friday, February 15th.

The track is rated a Good 4 with the rail in the true position.

We’ve previewed every race on the card below!

MOONEE VALLEY RACING TIPS

Best Bet: Race 6 Intueri

Best Value: Race 8 Mrs Bignell

RACE 1

Two-year-old event with five of the nine runners on debut so I won’t be betting big here. Vivaro did enough on debut over this track and distance to suggest it should be very competitive again here and having the ability to settle right up on the speed is going to take her a long way tonight. Drawn well and I’d like to see Dunn ride her for speed and kick off the corner rather than cuddling her. Mockery is one at a big of value around $16. Had a little bit of support on debut when it was a complete forgive run after being bumped sideways at a crucial part of the race. Has trialled well in the lead up to her first up run here. Drawn awkwardly but could be one to include at odds.

Value: Mockery $16

Vivaro

$3.40

RACE 2

Dancing Tycoon has been very well-backed here after finishing 2nd to Island Daze first up at this track and distance. She raced three-wide without cover so it was a good effort to only be beaten a length. Should be in much better shape with that run under the belt and should prove tough to beat. I’m going to bet around her again though. Privat Lounge may have finished 7th first up but she was beaten less than 2L after jumping slowly. Second up last preparation she bolted in by 5L and the step up from 1000m to 1200m is going to be a big plus for her tonight. Happy to have something on at $6.00. Lady Of Crebilly looks the value at $9.50. She’s run 2nd in all three first up starts and has trialled nicely coming into this. In-form jockey on board taking 2kg is a positive and she could give this a good shake at odds.

Value: Lady Of Crebilly $9.50

Private Lounge

$6.00

RACE 3

Makahu Boy is flying this prep with two wins and a 2nd from three starts. His 2nd placing was behind the talented Miss Norway which appears strong form for this race and he bounced out of that race with another win at the 1000m here last start. Should be able to put himself right up on the speed from the good draw and that should be enough to see him go very close in this.

Makahu Boy

$2.15

RACE 4

Thought this was pretty well a two-horse race between Mosh Music and Shaq, who bumped into each other last start over this track and distance. Mosh Music got the better of Shaq on that occasion but does concede 1.5kg in weight tonight for a 0.75L winning margin. Even so, I think Mosh Music is the more progressive horse and did enough last start when I opposed it to convince me to be on her tonight. Last start was her first run at 2040m so I think she’ll improve again tonight and that obviously makes her very tough to beat.

Mosh Music

$1.90

RACE 5

Groundbreak justified solid market support hen bolting in by 2.75L at Caulfield two starts ago and ran the fastest final 200m in defeat last start. Looks ready for the step up to the mile now and despite failing twice over this distance previously, he should go very close tonight. Never Again appeals at $10 for Jamie Kah and Clinton McDonald. He’s won three of his past four starts and interestingly comes into tonight’s race having been gelded. Drawn awkwardly but at the odds I’ll be having something on. Plot The Course is worth throwing in at $34. Hasn’t done much in two starts back from a spell but it’s about this stage of his preparation when he starts to come good. He’s placed in four of his five starts when third up from a break so he’s a sneaky chance. Similarly, Red Choux’s tends to find form after a few runs back and she won two on the bounce this time last campaign. First start for the new stable. Respect.

Value: Never Again $10 / Plot The Course $34

Groundbreak

$2.70

RACE 6

We should see Intueri burn across from barrier 9 here and if he finds the rail like he did last start, he’ll be awfully hard to run down again. That was his first Melbourne start and he couldn’t have been more impressive, leading all the way to record a 3.75L win. Humbolt Current has his first Australian start for trainer Chris Waller. He looks a progressive stayer having won three of his first seven career starts, the latest of which was over 2000m back in August. He’s won twice over the mile and while it’d be somewhat of a surprise to see him win fresh, he finds a race he can be competitive in. Indian Thunder and Sacred Theme are two ex-Weir horses coming into this in good form. Obviously hard to assess given what’s happened but tread carefully.

Intueri

$2.50

RACE 7

Not a race I’m keen on at all but there’s two horses around $8.00 that appeal. Sylpheed amazingly stepped up from 1200m to 2200m when tackling the Magic Millions Cup on the Gold Coast. It was a tremendous training effort to get him to handle such a sharp rise in trip as he was only beaten 2L. With that run under the belt and Craig Williams jumping on board tonight, he could be competitive. Pissaro has a win and two 2nd placings from his last three starts and the form out of those races isn’t too bad. Should be rock hard fit for this with two 2400m races leading into this. Bondeiger should be nearing his peak while Naval Warfare has obvious claims.

Value: Pissaro $8.50

Sylpheed

$8.00

RACE 8

Tricky little race and I wouldn’t be surprised to see a long-odds winner. Mrs Bignell looks a reasonable each way price having won two from two this preparation. She’s just slowly making her way through the grades at the country tracks and now tackles a metropolitan race. She’s drawn a nice barrier and can be competitive at $16. Kissee Me has run 3rd in both starts at this track and distance and comes out of a relatively good form race so I’d also throw her in at $17. Craig Williams takes over on Not Approved, who ran a placing behind La Tigeresa last time out. That form is certainly good enough for a race like this. Secret Vega and Brilliant Choice are probably the two class runners in the field and both come into this first up. Wouldn’t be surprised to see either win but I’ll play around them at the odds. Steel Of Madrid and Mossbelle not hopeless.

Mrs Bignell E/W

$16
