NBA Betting Tips: Thursday, February 5th 2026

Denver Nuggets at New York Knicks (11:00 am AEDT)

Denver heads to Madison Square Garden in what profiles as one of the better inter-conference matchups of the slate. The Knicks have been strong at home this season, playing with a clear identity built around defensive rebounding, limiting second-chance points, and a methodical half-court offence. That structure has allowed them to control tempo against quality opposition and turn games into physical, low-margin contests late.

The Nuggets remain one of the league’s more efficient road teams, but this spot is less than ideal. Rotation availability has been thinner than usual, which reduces lineup flexibility and increases the workload on their primary units. While Denver’s offence is still capable of elite efficiency in bursts, sustaining defensive intensity across four quarters becomes more difficult when depth is tested.

This shapes up as a playoff-style contest where execution and rebounding matter more than pace. If New York can dictate tempo, protect the paint, and limit clean perimeter looks, they’re well positioned to control the game flow and separate late.

Knicks -5.5

$1.90 (1.5 units)

Boston Celtics at Houston Rockets (12:00 pm AEDT)

Boston continues its road trip with a visit to Houston, facing a Rockets side that has been consistently competitive at home. Houston has leaned into pace and physicality, often using strong starts to pressure opponents and force them out of rhythm early. Their ability to generate energy through transition and offensive rebounding has been a key factor in home performances.

The Celtics arrive short-handed, placing a greater emphasis on structure, ball movement, and defensive discipline rather than raw scoring output. Boston has remained competitive in these situations by managing games well and avoiding extended scoring droughts, particularly when they can slow the pace and force half-court possessions.

This matchup profiles as a contrast in styles. If Houston can impose tempo and sustain energy across four quarters, they hold a clear edge. If Boston can absorb the early pressure and keep the game within reach late, execution becomes decisive.

Rockets −5.5

$1.90 (2 units)

Cleveland Cavaliers at Los Angeles Clippers (2:30 pm AEDT)

Cleveland heads west to take on the Clippers in a game already shaken up by Wednesday’s blockbuster trade. James Harden was sent to the Cavaliers in exchange for Darius Garland and a second-round pick, but neither player is expected to suit up on Thursday. That leaves both teams leaning on their current rotations, which makes execution and depth even more important.

The Cavaliers should have the edge here. Even without Harden likely to be available immediately, their roster is deeper, more balanced, and better equipped to handle the demands of a road game. The Clippers, back at home, will need to reshape their offence while maintaining defensive cohesion, which could make it tough to match Cleveland’s consistency over four quarters.

This shapes up as a physical, tight game. Whoever controls the boards, limits mistakes, and executes down the stretch will have the advantage, and on paper Cleveland’s depth and overall team quality give them the upper hand.

Cavaliers to win
