Happy Valley returns on Wednesday night with two class 1 races headlining the meeting in races 7 and 8. They’re both exciting races but we’ve identified some runners earlier in the meeting to hopefully get off to a good start and build a bank early in the night.

Happy Valley Racing Tips: Wednesday February 8th
Race 1
(2) Flash Famous is drawn poorly here but was unlucky last time in similar company and should’ve at least made the placings. Hugh Bowman is booked this time and should be able to steer the horse into the clear over the concluding stages. Most of his competition are struggling to win races so he’s a top chance here.
(3) Lucky Missile is on the class drop after failing by 8 lengths last time in class 4. He’s won in class 5 on multiple occasions and seems to be good enough to win in this grade. Not sure exactly where he’s at this prep having not finished better than 7th so can’t have him on top but have to be wary.
(4) Charizard closed strongly last time at bigger odds and although he’s unders this time he has to be considered a main chance especially from another good barrier draw in 2.
(2) Flash Famous Each-Way
$9/$3.20 (1 Unit)
Race 3
(7) Allgreektome looks capable of a win. He’s shown glimpses of ability particularly at the trials but hasn’t managed to win a race yet. His latest attempt was a forgive after pulling up with mucus post-race. Zac Purton rides tonight from gate 3 and the horse should win if all goes to plan.
(8) Prime Mortar looks to be off the pace of Allgeektome’s ability but the 2nd best pick in this race after winning last start. He’s drawn well again and has steadily improved his form so goes in for a distant 2nd pick.
(3) Spicy Grill always knows how to run a cheeky race and close off strongly. Wide gates don’t give him too much trouble as he gets back anyway so he’s a solid e/w pick for exotics and minors.
(7) Allgreektome Win
$2.40 (2 Units)
Race 4
(2) California Deeply has had the measure of his rivals lately apart from Pretty Queen Prawn who just lasted to beat him last time. This race looks pretty comfortable for this horse who’s clearly proven to be the best of this bunch in recent races. The big weight looks off-putting but it typically has less of an effect over the shorter trips and it didn’t seem to impede this horse’s ability last start.
(3) Special M has been around the mark of California Deeply and should be able to make up the placings behind him again unless something goes wrong for the favourite. Hugh Bowman rides from gate 6 so the setup looks positive.
(4) Heroic Master can’t be discounted even from the wide draw tonight as Zac Purton is aboard. The price on offer doesn’t look good enough to back this horse but he’s got to be a danger.
(2) California Deeply Win
