Unfortunately, we couldn’t find a winner in our PGA Tour betting tips over the weekend as our best bet Rickie Fowler finished tied for 16th, eight shots back from eventual winner Matt Kuchar at the OHL Classic in Mayakobo, Mexico.
The tour rolls on this weekend as we head to Saint Simons Island in Georgia to take a look at the annual RSM Classic and give our betting tips for the event below.
2018 RSM Classic Betting Tips
The Course
The Seaside Island Golf Course will play host to the RSM Classic this year, the 9th consecutive year the course has held the event since the tournament’s initiation back in 2010. The course is a 7,005-yard par 70, which includes a variety of different landscapes including tidal creeks, dunes and salt marshes. It was designed as a 9-hole course by English architects Harry Colt and Charles Alison before Joe Lee designed the ‘Marshside Nine to make it a full 18-hole course.
The course certainly isn't the longest on tour and the fairways have never proven to be difficult to find. However, the course does place a premium on shot selection and creativity around the greens. Accurate iron play is a must due to the complex greens and a lot of strokes should be gained in putting this weekend.
The Field
With a purse of just $6,400,000, the RSM Classic is on the lower end of the purse rankings for the 2019 PGA Tour, so we will be seeing a lighter field than we have in previous weeks at the WGC-HSBC, The Shriners and the Mayakobo. Patton Kizzire was the only player to compete in the RSM Classic last year and make the Fed Ex Cup playoffs. He will return in 2018 alongside a couple of other high rated PGA Tour players in Zach Johnson, Brian Harman, Harris English and Jonathan Byrd.

Hard not to look at the favourite this weekend in a very thin field. Webb Simpson comes into the tournament on the back of some decent form at the Shriners Hospital for Children Open a couple of weeks ago. In his first tournament since the season ending Tour Championship back in September, Simpson tied for 15th in the Shriners with a –13 score.
Simpson was one of the best players on approach and on the green on tour last season. He was ranked 19th overall in total putts per round and ranked 4th overall in 2018 in putting percentage inside 10 feet, 31st from 10-15 feet and 32nd from 15-20 feet.
Our value pick this weekend comes in the form of American Harold Varner III. Varner has finished tied for 15th and tied for sixth in his last two tournaments in the Shriners and OHL Classic over the past few weeks and comes into this weekend’s event as an above average player around the greens and in putting throughout the 2019 season so far.
