Caulfield Guineas Day has hit us as day one of the carnival kicks off in fine fashion on what is a fantastic program with the running of three GROUP 1’s. The Toorak Handicap looks a beauty as the Might and Power. Not to be out done the Group 2 Herbert Power (race three) and the Schillachi Stakes are hot as well with the latter coming up in race nine on the program. Gallopers will run on a Good track with race one starting at 12:15pm (AEDT).
Brendan Bunworth brings you his best bets and Quaddie selections below, with odds thanks to Dabble!

Caulfield Racing Tips: Saturday, October 11th 2025
Race 1: SEN Handicap 1700m - 12:15pm (AEDT)
(10) Overactive gets his favourite track conditions here (Good) and the consistent gelding will be running on strongly again like he did when 3rd at Hillside last start when he had a wide barrier in 10. He can get keen in his races but if he settles and gets cover in the run he can run over the top of them.
(11) Amleto has drawn 11 which is a concern in race one but will be fitter second up and I think he will be winning a race over the Spring.
(12) Gallant Prince settled in the box seat and won at Mornington last start. Harder here but has to be considered.
(10) Overactive Each-Way
$6.00/$2.10 (1 unit)
Race 2: Thoroughbred Club of Australia Plate 1200m - 12:50pm (AEDT)
(4) Sheza Alibi is one of two Moody&Coleman runners in the race and this girl has had some changes in gear for this race. The Moody nose roll goes on and the trainer gets his first chance to see his horse under race conditions after transferring stables. Won in quick time at Townsville for last trainer.
(2) Vein Girl was 4th but only defeated 1.25L in the Group 3 Champagne Stakes but does have to carry an extra kg here in what isn’t that much of an easy race.
(6) Surf’s Up had a good run in transit when winning at Warwick Farm last start. Harder here but can Place.
TIP: NO BET
Race 3: Sportsbet Herbert Power Stakes Group 2 2400m - 1:25pm (AEDT)
(3) Young Werther is racing very well at the moment and deserves an Each-Way bet. A top 3 finish here and he will head to the Caulfield Cup the following week with confidence and the 8 year old has been running very well without winning this campaign. The Good track is key and Billy Egan has won twice when on top previously. He likes Flemington better but he has won at Caulfield previously.
(9) Plymouth won last start on Grand Final Eve (Benalla Cup) and is looking or bigger fish to fry next week. Lightly raced and is 100 percent fit now.
(5) Whisky On The Hill got up by a neck at Mornington last start and that was on a Good3 which we might get again. Has won 2 from 5 starts here.
(3) Young Werther Each-Way
$6.00/$2.10 (1 unit)
Race four: Catanach’s Jewellers Vase Group 3 1600m - 2pm (AEDT)
(12) Pondalowie we backed last week at 31-1 and he stormed home for 4th and it was another good run. I’ll give him one more chance at big odds this time and conditions look suitable again. First try over 1600m but the Browne stable have had the mile journey in mind all campaign. Small bet and a positive if there is strong pace in the race.
(5) Oh Too Good loves Dry tracks and the Daffy trained mare does run well over the mile. She had no luck in the Group 2 Stocks Stakes last start when 7th.
(4) Molly Bloom ran on well to Place (3rd) at The Valley last Friday night but I reckon she will pinch one later in the campaign.
(12) Pondalowie Each-Way
$11/$2.90 (0.50 units)
Race 5: The Big Screen Company Weekend Hussler 1400m - 2:35pm (AEDT)
(8) King Zephyr we backed on Grand Final Day and he saluted for us when favourite. He cruised to victory that day and I can’t see why he can’t perform the same result again. He is third up and barrier 6 looks ideal so Childs can slot into the midfield running line. Loves Dry ground which he gets again. Small odds but should be winning.
(1) Amenable is an interesting runner and at his best would test the King. Is carrying 60kg though and may need a wetter track in a few weeks.
(3) Zou Sensation will settle on pace from barrier 2 and will be in thetop 3 with 200m to go. Whether he can hold off the powerful swoopers is up for debate. Very fit and has won 2 from 4 at this track.
(8) King Zephyr WIN
$1.80 (4 units)
Race 6: Sportsbet Might And Power Group 2 2000m 3:15pm (AEDT)
(5) Treasurethe Moment comes into this race after running 2nd behind Pride Of Jenni at The Valley 2 weeks ago (Feehan Stakes) in what was a terrific battle. Excellent win in the Group 1 Memsie prior to that and she has never lost at Caulfield or over this distance before. She is third up here and she has always won when third up before.
(2) Buckaroo ran well in the Group 1 Underwood last start (2nd) but peaked on his run with 100m to go. Geting out to a suitable distance here and he has always finished top 3 at this track.
(4) Globe is fitter after leading and running 2nd last start at Hillside on a Good 3 and he may lead this field. Has never Placed at Caulfield though which is a slight concern.
(5) Treasurethe moment WIN
$1.75 (4 units)
Race 7: Hyland Race Colours Toorak Handicap GROUP 1 1600m - 3:50pm (AEDT)
(5) Sepals has barrier 4 here and I can see him settling in about 4th position in this event before hitting his straps with 300m to go. He has won both starts this prep and event the Cifff Brown stable were surprised with that because he was only 80 percent fit. He is close to 100 percent fitness now and he is unbeaten at Caulfield. Had barrier 14 last start but crossed, settled 2nd and was too strong. Maps well.
(7) Lazzura won at Flemington when odds on last start and JMAC stays on top for Waller. First race at Caulfield though and hasn’t Placed over the mile yet.
(9) Leica Lucy is another Waller horse with Lane on top. Stormed home for 4th last start and if they go way too hard out in front she can fly over the top of them and claim the Group 1.
(5) Sepals WIN
$3.40 (2 units)
Race 8: Sportsbet Caulfield Guineas GROUP 1 1600m 4:30pm (AEDT)
(9) Autumn Boy has drawn inside for the Guineas and Lane hops on top for the first time. Autumn Boy didn’t get much luck in the Group 1 Golden Rose last start and got a couple of pairs back than planned. Collet was forced wide on that occasion as they did go too fast for him early. I think he will settle 4th or 5th the fence in this one and Lane will need some luck up the home straight to get out. If he gets out he goes very close.
(2) Wodeton hasn’t won on a Dry track in 5 attempts which is a slight concern for the favourite. Was 2nd in the Golden Rose and there has always been spruiks about this guy with many believing he can win multiple Group 1s.
(3) Vinrock cost punters last start after he faltered from the barriers. He was never in it after that and finished 5th as a $1.60 fav. Likes Dry ground, Zahra stays on but he does have a wide barrier in 14.
(9) Autumn Boy Each-Way
$4.40/$1.80 (1U/2U)
Race 9: Henley Homes Schillaci Stakes Group 2 1100m - 5:10pm (AEDT)
(9) Niance has drawn barrier 1 and will need some luck in this sprint race but if she gets that luck she will fly because she loves Caulfield having won on 3 occasions from as many attempts. She was unlucky when 10th at The Valley last start (Group 1 Moir) and she has been freshened for this.
(2) Golden Boom is consistent and is very fit. He will go forward in running and if he gets slow sectionals he could pinch this one. Dry ground suits and this is his favourite distance.
(6) Tropicus will go forward and may even lead depending on how hard they go over the first 100m. Caulfield specialist who loves the 1100m. Will then track be too Dry for him though?
(9) Niance Each-Way
$4.50/$1.75 (1U/2U)
Race 10: HKJC World Pool Northwood Plume Stakes Group 3 1200m - 5:45pm (AEDT)
(2) Coeur Volante has proven herself in harder races than this and can give a good sight at 10-1 first up here. She has won 3 from 9 on Good tracks and although she will get back in the run, I think there is enough pace in the race here to see her swoop down the outside late. She is a winner of 2 from 3 here and even though she has to carry 58kg, she has done that before and run well.
(1) Ameena was 5th in the Group 1 Manikato but is down in class and fitter here. The Dry ground suits and she is the favourite.
(11) Karavas is big odds and WIllow stays on. Having her second look at Caulfield and $31 looks too high.
(2) Coeur Volante Each-Way
$10/$3.80 (0.50 units)
