Sale Racing Club will host eight races on Wednesday and with the Spring Carnival lurking midweek fields are only going to get stronger. Race one starts at 1:10pm, (AEDT) and the maidens will start us off in that event. The track is rated a Soft5 at the time of typing and the weather is meant to be fine with 24 degrees forecast. Race eight looks like the race of the day and we have a play in that race, a horse which might head to the city if he wins.
Brendan Bunworth offers his best bets for Wednesday at Sale below, and be sure to head over to our Racing Tips page regularly as we offer our best bets for all the key meetings each week.
Sale Racing Tips: Wednesday, October 8th 2025
Race 1: Ladbrokes Spring Hosted Pots 3yo Maiden 1427m - 1:10pm (AEDT)
(1) Fastobullet has placed twice on Soft tracks already in his short career and he should give punters a good sight up front. He led and was run down in a harder race than this at Hillside last start and he should be fitter here being 3rd up for the Greg Eurell stable. Barrier 2 suits again where he should be able to dictate.
(4) Roulette King will spot the leader a few lengths but does have the ability to run on well in his races. He didn’t have much luck at Geelong last start when 4th and the extra 300m here looks suitable.
(8) Meleys has drawn wide (13) but had a wide barrier in 9 on a Soft track when 2nd on debut. Rises 3kg here with Luke Currie on for the Hayes Team.
(1) Fastobullet WIN
$3.00 (2 units)
Race 3: Ladbrokes Mega Multi 4yo Maiden 1427m - 2:20pm (AEDT)
(4) Manifest The Milli has drawn wide in 11 and will need a good steer from Billy Egan. He has solid form though on the back of a close up 2nd last start at Seymour on a Soft6 and Egan has decided to stay on after that. He seems to go better on Soft or Good tracks which he will get this time.
(1) Blue Cowboy is first up and is unplaced in all career starts. Won a Cranbourne jumpout last week in fine fashion and the Michael Kent trained gelding should have come on from his first prep.
(5) Newcombe is first up but has trialled up well. Before his spell he was close up when 2nd at this track beaten under a length and that's the effort I am going off. Current price of $13.00 seems too high. Barrier 12 might be the reason for that but he ran 2nd from barrier 10 last start.
(4) Manifest The Milli WIN
$3.40 (2 units)
Race 8: Ladbrokes BlackBook Handicap 1212m - 5:15pm (AEDT)
(8) Perfect Picture looks the goods here in the last for the Begg stable after she stormed home for 2nd at Hillside last start. Luke Cartwright stays on and Perfect Picture was 2nd over this journey on August 13 when starting favourite. The stable must think she is more suitable to that distance and I expect her to start fav again. An upgrade in track conditions may aid her even further.
(5) Dollar Shot finds an easier race here compared to his last couple and he is over the odds at 8-1. A Soft track is better for this guy and he was only 6L off them (11th) in the Group 3 Cockram two starts back so the Nardino stable must rate him.
(7) Espinho was just off midfield and ran on well at Ballarat last start and its looks like the extra 200m should suit here again at this stage. Has never missed a drum over this journey and this is his third run in so he should be nearing peak fitness.
(8) Perfect Picture WIN
$2.60 (3 units)
