Randwick Racing Tips: Saturday October 4th 2025

October 3rd 2025, 4:58pm, By: Trent Orwin

Randwick Racing Tips

Randwick will host a 10-race card on Saturday, headlined by the Epsom Handicap which showcases unbeaten Chris Waller-trained mare Autumn Glow. In addition, there are two other Group 1s on the program, as the fillies battle it out in the Flight Stakes and the stayers collide in The Metropolitan.

The rail is in the true position, the track is Good, and the weather is expected to be partly cloudy with a top of 22 degrees. Perfect weather for a perfect day’s racing!

The first race kicks off at 12:05pm AEST and Trent Orwin previews every race on the card with odds thanks to Palmerbet!

Randwick Racing Tips: Saturday, October 4th 2025

Race 1: Midway Handicap (1800m) – 12:05pm (AEST)

(6) Sunset Park goes on top in a race with a stack of chances. Prepared by Brad Widdup, the five-year-old mare has four runs under the belt this time in, producing a win three starts ago. She was second and then fourth at her last two efforts when leading. From barrier four, jockey Alysha Collett will be searching for the front and hoping to do less work early in the race. If that transpires, Sunset Park will go close.

(9) Agita is fit and ready to win a Midway event soon. The track record of nine starts for one minor placing is certainly a concern, but that placing was last start when third behind Iceman. Can look to land a midfield position and should be finishing strongly in this company.

(14) Webejamin has not really had the taste for winning yet, with 16 career starts yielding one victory and 10 minor placings. Steps up in grade to tackle this assignment but could run a cheeky race with some luck in running at big odds. Having something small on her.

Also Backing: (14) Webejamin WIN $17 (0.5 units)

(6) Sunset Park WIN

$5.50 (1 unit)

Race 2: Arrowfield Breeders' Plate (1000m) – 12:40pm (AEST)

(2) Eviction Notice is a two-year-old colt for Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott who also have I’m Ya Huckleberry and Revengeance in the race. All eight runners are on debut, and this race is where avid trial watchers thrive. That is not where I like to look, so I will be glancing over both two-year-old races on the card.

(4) I’m Ya Huckleberry is the other runner that the market fancies off the back of his Kensington trial win. Both top two runners in the market carved out similar sectionals and have strong claims.

(7) Paradoxium chased home I’m Ya Huckleberry in a recent trial, finishing 2.39 lengths away. Capable of improving off the trial run but would prefer to watch his debut.

TIP: No Bet

Race 3: Keeneland Gimcrack Stakes (1000m) – 1:15pm (AEST)

(5) Home Invasion captured her Kensington trial by around two lengths and represents the powerful Waterhouse and Bott stable. She draws the inside gate and will make her presence known.

(7) Masvingo has received early support since markets opened, and the Bjorn Baker-trained filly was a comfortable trial winner. The daughter of Zoustar has strong claims here.

(10) Shiki is another Kensington trial winner for Waterhouse and Bott. Has the services of Tim Clark and is currently the favourite for the race.

TIP: No Bet

Race 4: Plunge Right Dulcify Stakes (1600m) – 1:50pm (AEST)

(7) Attica is a three-year-old Godolphin colt trained by Joe Pride who comes off a second placing as an odds-on favourite at Kembla Grange in a Class 1 event. There was nothing wrong with the run, it’s just the outside barrier here that poses a concern. If Adam Hyeronimus can work over to slot in, then Attica can let down powerfully.

(1) Without Peer has terrific form leading into the Dulcify, finishing third behind Sixties in the Group 3 Ming Dynasty Quality (1400m) won by Sixties. Stretches out to the mile now which shouldn’t pose a problem.

(8) Azarax has won both career starts, the latest in a Benchmark 64 Handicap over 1350m at Wyong. That was a month ago and trainers John O’Shea and Tom Charlton have given the gelding a barrier trial since. Looks ready to run a big race.

(7) Attica WIN

$5.50 (1.5 units)

Race 5: Melbourne Storm Mile (1600m) – 2:25pm (AEST)

(15) Glad You Think So was runner up to Nkosi last start in a Benchmark 88 event over 1800m. He drops back to the mile where he has won two from four attempts and has a pair of wins at Randwick. Should be right on the speed here and looks one of the major players in a massive field of 19 horses at the time of writing.

(19) Idle Flyer has back-to-back victories for trainer Matthew Smith. She is lightly raced with nine starts, five of those wins, as she tackles the mammoth field. Hard to be keen on her at the price of $2.40 as she may need luck with so many rivals around her. Can’t fault her form though.

(13) Perfumist comes off a last start fourth placing and is another right in the mix. If the favourite doesn’t have the best of luck or underperforms, you could throw a lot of names up as potential winners of the race. Looks one of the better map horses in the race for trainer Bjorn Baker.

(15) Glad You Think So E/W

$11/$3.30 (1 unit)

Race 6: Darley Flight Stakes (1600m) – 3:00pm (AEST)

(1) Apocalyptic is the dominant favourite for this edition of the time-honoured Flight Stakes following consecutive wins in the Group 2 Furious Stakes (1200m) and Group 2 Tea Rose Stakes (1400m). Her victory in the latter was simply awesome, and she deserves favouritism and should be very hard to beat.

(3) Tupakara might be one of the better maidens going around as her eight starts have produced five placings and more than $270,000 in prizemoney. She has been no match for Apocalyptic this prep and don’t see her turning the tables but could be placed again.

(5) Queen Of Clubs was fourth in the Tea Rose and prior to that, she had finished third in the Group 2 Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m). The better barrier could see her settle closer than last start.

(1) Apocalyptic WIN

$1.80 (3 units)

Race 7: Precise Air Premiere Stakes (1200m) – 3:35pm (AEST)

(1) Jimmysstar will appreciate the small field of seven runners in this Group 2 contest. He will settle last and look to cut them down in the home straight. He has Group 1 wins in the Oakleigh Plate (1100m) and the All Aged Stakes (1400m).

(2) Briasa was runner up in the Group 2 The Shorts (1100m) a fortnight ago and gets the advantage over Jimmysstar in the run. The five-year-old gelding won the Group 1 TJ Smith Stakes (1200m) in the autumn and has won five from six over 1200m. Can easily see why he is favourite in the race.

(6) Private Harry will be out to show doubters that his bubble hasn’t burst following a fifth placing in The Shorts. Ashley Morgan loses the ride with Tim Clark jumping in the saddle. Will try and lead them a merry dance.

(1) Jimmysstar WIN

$3.10 (2 units)

Race 8: TAB Epsom (1600m) – 4:10pm (AEST)

(2) Pericles is a six-year-old gelding for Bjorn Baker and Godolphin. He won the Group 2 Tramway Stakes (1400m) first up from a spell and boasts a good record second up with three wins and two runner-up performances from six attempts. He does almost all his racing in Group races and the biggest feature of the day will not daunt the son of Street Boss. He is going to be in the thick of things early and provided there isn’t too much early pressure, he can fight on strongly at each-way odds.

(4) Autumn Glow has won all six career starts for Chris Waller who simply knows how to win Epsom Handicaps. The likes of Kolding, Boban and Waller’s best of all, the champion Winx, have all won Epson’s for the stable. Autumn Glow has a ton of deserved hype, and the wide draw doesn’t look too bad as Kerrin McEvoy can let things unfold early. Looks a good test for her.

(1) Ceolwulf is the defending winner of the race and has been building nicely towards this feature. He was third in the 7 Stakes (1600m) behind Fangirl last start. He’s good enough to win a second Epsom.

(2) Pericles E/W

$8.00/$2.50 (1U/2U)

Race 9: Asahi Super Dry Metropolitan (2400m) – 4:45pm (AEST)

(9) Soul Of Spain has won four on end, including the Group 3 Newcastle Gold Cup (2300m) for trainer Chris Waller. The five-year-old gelding will appreciate just 50.5kg on his back with jockey Zac Lloyd retaining the ride after Newcastle. Hopefully settles midfield in the capacity field of 18 as he looks to record another win this prep – he is 0 from 2 at the distance.

(7) Birdman is a stablemate to our top pick and was victorious in the Group 3 Kingston Town Stakes (2000m). He has drawn a wide gate here which could make things harder, but his recent form is good, and he should be finishing strongly in the race.

(18) Juja Kibo might be the best roughie in the race with four wins from 10 career starts. He was runner up in the Group 3 Colin Stephen Quality (2400m) and his form this preparation is good. One of many horses carrying 50kg in the race too.

(9) Soul Of Spain WIN

$5.00 (1 unit)

Race 10: Kia Brisbane Broncos Sprint (1200m) – 5:25pm (AEST)

(5) Disneck wasn’t far away last start held up rounding the home turn and finishing strongly once finding a narrow gap between two runners. This is a difficult race with plenty of horses resuming – Disneck is already fit and gets Nash Rawiller.

(2) Fire Star got the cash at big odds last time and could settle handy right behind the speed. Once again, he’s at a price, and it wouldn’t shock to see him fighting out the finish.

(9) Getafix is first up from a spell after winning his previous two before earning a brief break. A pair of trials has him in good stead and he is another winning chance in a very open race to finish a massive day of racing.

(5) Disneck WIN

$6.50 (1 unit)
