Horse Racing Tips

Rosehill Gardens hosts a 10 Race card on Saturday with the Listed TAB Rosebud over 1100m in race 8 as the feature race of the card. The rail is true this week after being out 7m from the 800m to the post and 6m for the remainder last meeting. Selections are for a SOFT track with fine weather predicted – watch and monitor if possible. The first race kicks off at 11.35am AEST.

Shannon Buckley is back in the saddle with his preview and racing tips for the day's racing action from Rosehill.

Rosehill Gardens Racing Tips: Saturday, August 15th 2026

Race 4 – Schweppes BM78  - 1900m (1:20pm AEST)

(1) Simurgh – 5YO Gelding who has been in terrific form, winning twice and finishing runner-up twice before heading for a freshen-up. He resumed off a 9-week break over 1600m and hit the line strongly to finish second, which should have him spot-on for this 1900m assignment. He previously tackled back-to-back 2000m races and was very impressive, winning both comfortably, so this distance looks right up his alley. He is also a genuine wet-track performer, which is a major tick given the conditions. Has had two jump-outs under his belt to keep the fitness ticking over. Maps favourably and should get every chance to settle into the race and build through his work late. He looks a serious contender.

(2) Hovland – 5YO gelding who has been sound this prep and was exceptional most recently in a class 3 at Eagle Farm. Returns to Sydney now and is more than capable of backing it up. Zac Lloyd is reunited with him after not riding him for a few starts now. Genuine hope.

(6) Concordia Wind – 5YO Mare who won nicely most recently when lugging 61.5kg as a mare which was impressive. Has been racing soundly and had a couple excuses in the two runs where she didn’t win. Rock hard fit and J-Mac sticks on. 1900m the only query. Chance.

(1) Simurgh - Win

$5.50 (1.5 Units)

Race 8 – TAB Rosebud LISTED – 1100m (3:45pm AEST)

(3) Central Europe – 3YO Colt who was impressive on debut and arguably should’ve won if he managed to get clear air sooner. Buttered up at Group 3 level and was only beaten a length by Warwoven. Started $2.20 there too, so plenty of confidence around him. Freshened now for this and will likely have matured further and with J-Mac to steer we should see a nice ride. Looks a great bet at the current quote.

(6) Blue Door – 3YO Filly who debuted over this trip at group 3 level and won nicely. Sent for a freshen up after that win and looks set to kick things off nicely for this campaign if all things go well. Drawn nicely and Rachel King retains. Early market support is promising.

(10) Castillo King –  3YO Colt who debuted at Warwick Farm and won convincingly as a $2.00 pop. Since trialled nicely and looks capable of making an impact here. Early market sees him go from $8.00 into $4.20 which is a big go by the punters. One to watch.

(3) Central Europe - Win

$4.40 (1.5 Units)

Race 9 – Racing and Sports Hcp – 1400m (4:20pm AEST)

(1) Attica –  4YO Gelding who is a proven Group 1 winner and returns this prep as a Gelding which could mean anything. Proven fresh and can handle the conditions. Trialled well and will be thereabouts.

(2) Piggyback – 6YO Mare who resumes today and looks well over the odds. First up last time in she was good through to the line over the mile. This time tackles 1400m with a couple trials under her belt. Loves this track and can handle any conditions. 3kg claim engaged and a nice barrier gives her every hope. Clear market edge and worth a small each way play.

(11) Althoff – 5YO gelding who returned well over 1300m when settling rearward and rattled home down the outside. Late sectionals were slick. 1400m will assist and will strip fitter. Market support has been strong and looks a major player. Goes well.

(12) Rolling Magic – 6YO Gelding who was dominant when resuming over 1300m on the Heavy track, lumping 60kg and still putting them away in impressive fashion. He clearly faces a tougher assignment here against some talented opposition, but the fitness edge could prove crucial with several of his key rivals coming into this first-up off lengthy breaks. He strips a massive 8kg from that resuming run, which is a significant advantage, while drawing favourably and securing the services of Tyler Schiller. He loves this track and should be able to settle in a favourable position from the draw before building through his work late. If he can reproduce anything close to his first-up effort, he is more than capable of giving this a serious shake. The fitness, weight relief and track affinity make him a very competitive chance. Worth a play.

(12) Rolling Magic - Win

$5.50 (1.5 Units)
