Sunday afternoon NRL action kicks off at Allianz Stadium in round 18, as the Tigers look to snap their 6-game skid when they take on the Sydney Roosters. With the Roosters currently well entrenched inside the top 8, they get a fantastic opportunity here to continue their unlikely ascent in the finals in 2025. Plenty of work ahead for the Tigers, yet again.

Roosters vs Tigers Prediction & Tips: 2025 NRL Round 18
Captain Teddy Looks to Keep the Roosters in the 8
The Roosters come into this clash off the bye, however they aren’t exactly fresh, given the loss of several stars to Origin. Sam Walker is also at least another week away, which means a very inexperienced team, with two debutants and a player who only has one first grade game to his name. When we last saw the Roosters, they were dominating a poor Cowboys’ team in round 16, with the Roosters smashing the Cowboys 42-8. Mark Nawaqanitawase continued his fantastic season, scoring a try, breaking the line twice, busting 8 tackles and running for 245 metres. James Tedesco had similar numbers, whilst the Roosters had contributions across the park for the 80 minutes. It marked the Roosters fifth win in seven games, with their only losses coming to the two teams at the top of the table, the Raiders and Bulldogs. The Chooks are in form, and it could be another huge loss incoming for the Tigers.
Four Straight Wooden Spoons on the Horizon for Tigers
The Tigers come in off their NRL-worst sixth straight defeat, going down 28-10 to the Sea Eagles last week, who were also struggling. The bad news hasn’t stayed purely on field, as once again the Tigers are at the centre of media speculation of a player revolt, after the recent losses of Lachlan Galvin and Tallyn Da Silva has caused upheaval amongst the playing group and supporter base. Manly were dominant in the win, despite they themselves being in poor form, and the late loss of Jarome Luai didn’t help. Latu Fainu struggled to guide the team around and looked overawed at the occasion. The added loss of Api Koroisau and Heath Mason heading into this game with the Roosters has the Tigers in a terrible position. A fourth straight wooden spoon beckons a team that once looked a good shout at a finals berth.
Roosters vs Tigers Recent History
The Roosters and Tigers have only met each other once per season since the 2019 season, and it has been all one-way traffic in favour of the Roosters, as they have won all six of those matches over a six-year period. If the record isn’t bad enough as is for the Tigers, the Roosters have utterly dominated the western Sydney team, with the last four results reading 40-6, 32-8, 72-6, and 40-6.
In the last matchup between these teams in round 17 last season, the Roosters closed 14.5-point home favourites, with a closing total of 51.5. It was one way action, with the Roosters scoring eight unanswered tries, before the Tigers managed a last-minute consolation try to bring the final score to 40-6. James Tedesco was electric, running for 231 metres, scoring a try, breaking the line twice, setting up a try and line break, and busting 11 tackles. Dom Young and Daniel Tupou also managed two tries apiece, in a demolition.
Look Away Tigers Fan, This Could get Ugly
The Roosters opened firm 8.5-point home favourites, despite the losses of Angus Crichton, Connor Watson, Spencer Leniu, and Lindsay Collins to Origin. This hasn’t deterred bettors, with Roosters money flooding the market, to where we now sit at 13.5. The Tigers are without their entire spine from the start of the season, as Luai (Origin), Galvin (Bulldogs), Koroisau (Concussion), and Bula (injured) are all out. Their new spine lacks any sort of cohesion or experience, and it’s hard to see where the Tigers score their points this week. It is because of this, that I can see the Roosters running up a large victory this week, and we will make the bet a small one, but one with a bigger payout, and take a massive Roosters win in this game.
A quick look at the total, and it opened 47.5 and has been bet up to 49.5. This seems fine to me, and I would make a fair total 48.5, so see no real value here. I would lean towards looking at a Tigers team total under, but I’ll steer clear here of the total.

Roosters vs Tigers Player Prop Bet: Rodwell on Debut
Our Best Player Prop Bet: Rodwell 1+ Try
The Roosters rookie gets his first-grade debut, and it’s hard to get a better opponent than the Tigers. Whilst the left side will more than likely see more of the ball, I can see the Tigers looking to get their young winger his first try here.
Tom Rodwell (1+ try)

Same Game Multi: Roosters vs Tigers
Leg 1: Roosters (13+) – Roosters should win this game at a canter, and with them pushing hard for a top 8 spot, won’t slow down where they’re up.
Leg 2: T Rodwell (1+ try) – See Best Prop Bet.
Leg 3: B Smith (1+ try) – Two tries in their last game, the Roosters’ left sided centre is in the perfect position to add to his try scoring tally this season, against the porous Tigers’ right edge.
