Titans vs Tigers Prediction & Tips: 2025 NRL Round 27

Titans Look to Climb Off the Bottom of Ladder

The Titans have lost five straight, and if it wasn’t for the Knights being just as bad as them, it could have been very lonely at the bottom of the ladder for the Titans. With only five wins from 25 games, it was the right time for the team to move on from Hasler, however he definitely can’t take all the blame, as this franchise just doesn’t appear to know how to play winning football, with just two finals wins in all of its various iterations (Giants, Chargers, Titans, Seagulls, Gladiators).

In their last start, the Titans headed to Suncorp Stadium to take on a Dolphins team that had been struggling of late. In a highly entertaining game of football which highlighted both teams’ deficiencies, the Dolphins eventually prevailed 36-30. After trailing 18-0 inside 13 minutes, it looked as though the Titans might concede 80, however to their credit they bounced back, scoring three unanswered tries in 10 minutes to level the scores at 18-apiece at the break. In a back and forth second half, the Dolphins managed three tries to two to get home in the end, with the team stats looking almost identical in each category.

Brian Kelly had one of his better games for the season, scoring just his fifth try, running for 156 metres, making 17 tackles without a miss, and breaking the line once, whilst AJ Brimson and Jayden Campbell were once again dangerous every time they touched the ball, with each having a hand in several Titans’ tries.

Tigers to Push for Finals Football in 2026

The Tigers have put on an impressive end of season run, however it appears the steam may have run out, after a terrible loss to the Cowboys in round 25 when leading by 12 with just 14 minutes remaining, followed up by a dour loss to the Raiders last week who had all the pressure on them. Despite looking close to the Raiders in the first half (Raiders led 12-10 at HT), the Raiders dominated the second half, and probably could have won by more than the 24-10 score they eventually won by.

Statistically, the game was tight, with the Tigers struggling to break the green wall with just two-line breaks, however the other attacking statistics were all quite close. The biggest issue for the Tigers was their lack of discipline, giving away 9 penalties and conceding 7 set restarts, which is always going to put you behind the 8-ball against a forward pack like the Raiders.

Despite the back-to-back losses, Coach Benji Marshall has finally seen some results from his philosophy over the past two seasons, and there will surely be plenty of positivity around this team heading into the 2026 season. Whether they can match those ambitions remains to be seen.

Titans vs Tigers Recent History

The Titans had absolutely dominated this recent rivalry, winning five in a row from 2020 until round 16 last season, when the Tigers managed to snap the Titans’ streak with a come-from-behind 18-10 win.

In their last matchup just over a month ago, the Tigers closed 4.5-point home favourites at Leichhardt Oval, with a total of 48.5. The Titans took the Tigers to the brink, leading 20-16 with under five minutes to play. A Jeral Skelton try levelled the scores at 20, before Adam Doueihi kicked his first career field goal with 10 seconds on the clock to win the game for the Tigers, in front of a packed Leichhardt Oval. The Tigers really should have won the game more comfortably, as they outgained the Titans 1674m to 1370m, made double the line breaks (8 to 4), whilst the Titans missed 41 tackles, made 12 errors and conceded eight penalties. Nevertheless, they got the win, and it proved a catalyst for a team that was heading towards a fourth straight wooden spoon to have a great end to the season.

Skelton was huge for the Tigers, running for 177 metres, scoring two tries, breaking the line three times, and busting 7 tackles, whilst once again the usual suspects stood up for the Titans in AJ Brimson, Jayden Campbell, and Beau Fermor.

Titans to Send Dessie Out a Winner

The Tigers were lined as short 1.5-point favourites on the look ahead line, before re-opening at the same number on Monday. The number hasn’t moved all week, with neither team resting any players and the market being pretty much set on how these teams should be rated 26 weeks into the season. My number is pretty much smack bag on this, and there is no number value in the side here. The Tigers have struggled as favourites this season, covering just twice in their seven games as favourites.

Moving onto the total, and it opened 51.5 and has been bet up consistently all week to where we currently sit at a market high of 53.5. My fair total for this one is 50.5, so there is slight value in the under, however as the final game of the season for both teams, defence could be more of a suggestion than a game plan. I can’t bet the under here, and would actually lean towards the over, despite my numbers saying otherwise.

So, not a whole lot of value in this game. Realistically, the Titans should have the edge in motivation for this one, but it’s hard to see whether they will actually be motivated. A win could potentially see them avoid the spoon, in fact it’s a huge chance given the Knights are 13.5-point underdogs on Sunday, plus with Coach Des Hasler on the way out, the playing group will surely want to send him out on a high. Also, plenty of players will view this as their last chance to put a good performance on the field, which could prove crucial to their ongoing careers, either at the Titans or elsewhere. The Tigers, meanwhile, have no ladder motivations as they can only finish between 11th and 15th. The Head Coach looks set to keep his job, and the players have shown enough this year to have earnt another season in this program. It is for these reasons that I’ll take the Titans to get the win here and consign the Knights to the likely wooden spoon.

Titans vs Tigers Player Prop Bet

Taylan May Just get Another

Three tries in the last five games for May, and four in his six at the club, May has proven a real handful out on the left for the Tigers. With the Titans troubles on the right edge in defence, I expect another May try here.

Taylan May (1+ try)
