Sharks vs Sea Eagles Predictions & Tips: NRL Round 13 2026
Bringing the magic
The Sharks opened Magic Round with a dominant 38-16 victory over the Bulldogs. In a match that was all but over at HT, a 5-try display saw them take a 30-6 lead into the break. Waiting out time in the second half, the Sharks would be disappointed they didn’t further build on their margin of victory. Despite not needing too, it would’ve helped their confidence. With just 49% possession, they completed at 84%, averaged 8.5m per carry, and had 517 PCM’s. They would be disappointed that they missed 35 tackles and allowed 5 line breaks, but it was an improved performance compared to others they have produced this season.
Doing enough in tough conditions
Missing a few players to Origin and injury, the Sea Eagles were expected to dominate their contest against the Titans more than they did. Still, they will take the 2-competition points which come with their 12-10 victory at home. The fact that they had 53% possession and completed at 86% (Titans 68%) highlights a shortcoming in their attack. They averaged 8.3m per carry, only had 3 line breaks, and managed 600 PCM’s. In many ways, they did enough without dazzling like they have in previous weeks. Hopefully, it is not a sign that the bubble is about to burst for them.
Stats that matter
- The Sharks have won 7 out of the past 10 games against the Sea Eagles. Despite this, the Sea Eagles have a 58% record at this ground, only slightly behind the Sharks 59%.
- In the past 5 games, 3 have been decided by 6 points or less. Combatting the 16 and 20 point margins, the average sits at 10.4 points. The average total points is somewhat low for the modern era of NRL, sitting at 47.2 points in the same timeframe.
- The Sea Eagles have a far better defensive structure compared to the Sharks this season. They concede just 18ppg compared to their opponents 26ppgs. Interestingly, the Sharks are slightly higher in attack, scoring 29ppg compared to the Sea Eagles’ 28ppg.
Quality overpowers quantity
A major blow was dealt the Sharks this week as Hynes was ruled out for this contest. He has been replaced by Puru at halfback; while those quick to doubt Hynes’ ability will see this as a positive, you cannot overlook the positive impact he has on the Sharks. They will struggle to cover him. This is why it is surprising to see the Sea Eagles listed as outsiders. Sure, the recent history favours the home team but there is an argument that since Foran has taken over this team, they have been more consistent than the opponents they will face in this match. In a head-to-head contest, the visitors should be too strong. Even if their Origin players are absent, their play in the middle is strong and could expose a vulnerable Sharks team. In terms of an investment though, the safer option is investing on this game being a close contest. You can make a case for either team and therefore, if you wish to part ways with your cash, the greatest chance of a return is backing a narrow margin of victory to either team.

Sharks vs Sea Eagles Same Game Multi
Leg 1 = Total points over 45.5 – see above for justification.
Leg 2 = Mulitalo to score – returning to the field in recent weeks, Mulitalo didn’t waste any time in finding the tryline. He will want to build on that form shown, and he enjoys coming up against the Sea Eagles, with 5 tries from his past 4 games against them.
Leg 3 = Hopoate to score – returning from suspension this week, Hopoate will want to get back to the form which saw him score 6 tries in his past 5 NRL matches. He has proven strong from anywhere on the field and will want to make up for the lost time of the past few weeks he has sat on the sidelines.
