The big day is finally here as Randwick hosts 10 races, headlined by the $20 million The Everest, featuring champion Hong Kong sprinter Ka Ying Rising. The other Group 1 on the program is the King Charles III Stakes.
Looking at the conditions, the temperature should be perfect with a top of 22 degrees and mostly sunny. The rail is out three metres for the entire circuit, and they will race on a Good track.
The opening race kicks off at 12:30pm AEDT with The TAB Everest set to jump at 4:15pm AEDT. We take you through our best bets for the card below!

Randwick Racing Tips: Saturday, October 18th 2025
Race 1: Bisley Workwear Reginald Allen Quality (1400m) – 12:30pm (AEDT)
(3) Snitzel Dancer has had two career runs for a victory on debut before finishing second in a Benchmark 72 Handicap (1300m). The three-year-old filly’s best work looked to be in the final 50 metres. At her Canterbury win, she defeated Equerry who has since won, and Shangri La Boy would go on to win the Group 3 Gloaming Stakes. Has strong claims in an open event.
(8) Miles Of Glory tasted glory last time out with a half-length win in a maiden. The sectionals look good, and she can be in the firing line from a good draw. Expect her to go close.
(2) Profoundly looks to be trending in the right direction with a pair of minor placings at her last two starts – both in Queensland. Could run a cheeky race at double figures.
(3) Snitzel Dancer WIN
$4.60 (1.5 units)
Race 2: Delta Building Automation St Leger Stakes (2600m) – 1:05pm (AEDT)
(2) Soul Of Spain was gallant in defeat in the Group 1 The Metropolitan (2400m) last start after sustaining a wide run in the final third of the race. Chris Waller’s five-year-old gelding would have lost no admirers on the day. Prior to that, he had won four straight, including the Group 3 Newcastle Cup (2300m). Damian Lane has picked up the ride and he’s riding in good form, with a recent Caulfield Guineas victory beside his name.
(6) More Felons is another Waller runner in the race – there are five of them – and his run in The Metropolitan was excellent also. He is definitely good enough to capture the St Leger and should map fairly well in the run.
(9) Sam Hawkens is the intriguing runner in the race for English trainer William Haggas. A five-year-old gelding that races in the OTI Racing colours, the Irish-bred horse has won a hat-trick of races and enters this fresh from a spell. Must be respected but I am happy to be against due to the odds on offer for my top pick.
(2) Soul Of Spain WIN
$4.80 (1.5 units)
Race 3: Big Dance Wild Card (1600m) – 1:40pm (AEDT)
(4) Ducasse gets the nod here at good each-way odds. Prepared by Michael Freedman, the five-year-old gelding has finished midfield at his past two starts, but looks primed for the Big Dance Wild Card. He has won twice from six attempts over track and distance and will look for a soft run from the inside barrier. Regan Bayliss picks up the ride.
(5) Swiftfalcon finished fourth in the Group 1 Epsom Handicap (1600m) a fortnight ago and if he’s going to win a race this prep, it could be this one. Not keen on him at the price but respect his recent form.
(6) Vivy Air has been runner up three starts in a row, the latest being the first run for this campaign. That was in the Group 3 Cameron Handicap (1500m) and this looks an easier assignment. Gets in-form hoop Ethan Brown which would add confidence to anyone backing her.
(4) Ducasse E/W
$14/$3.90 (1 unit)
Race 4: Asahi Super Dry Angst Stakes (1600m) – 2:15pm (AEDT)
(7) Perfumist is a last start winner for trainer Bjorn Baker where she was a comfortable 1.5-length victor over Idle Flyer who would love to turn the tables. If the four-year-old mare reproduces the same run, she will win again. She is two from three at the mile and looms as the clear horse to beat in this Group 3 event.
(10) Idle Flyer had won back-to-back events before chasing home Perfumist. Matthew Smith’s four-year-old mare has come up with a shocking barrier in this event and may be forced to work hard. Good enough to turn the tables but have to stick with Perfumist with the better gate.
(14) Dominetta has the inside barrier for Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott. She has won just once from 10 tries but her autumn form is good enough to suggest she could run a cheeky race third up from a spell.
(7) Perfumist WIN
$2.80 (2 units)
Race 5: The Kosciuszko (1200m) – 2:50pm (AEDT)
(11) Clear Thinking enters the $2 million feature fresh with a pair of barrier trial wins beside her name. She has won four from six in her career to date and was second in the Group 3 Triscay Stakes (1200m) last preparation. Gets in well with 53.5kg in The Kosciuszko, as Tyler Schiller jumps aboard. One concern is being well back in the field but should be charging home.
(1) Front Page also enters the race first up from a spell and the nine-year-old gelding is a veteran compared to Clear Thinking. A former two-winner of the race in 2022 and 2023, he was second in the 2024 edition and would love to win the race one more time. Carries 60kg which is the concern.
(7) Gallant Star contested the race last year when sixth and looks to have stronger claims this time around. A good draw and Zac Lloyd are both positives.
(11) Clear Thinking WIN
$4.60 (1.5 units)
Race 6: Toyota Forklifts Sydney Stakes (1200m) – 3:25pm (AEDT)
(15) Generosity is the race favourite for the Sydney Stakes and not too keen to be involved in this $2 million feature. A five-year-old mare for Chris Waller, she was placed in the Group 2 The Shorts (1100m) behind her stablemate Joliestar. Briasa was second which is really strong form lines. The capacity field of 16 is what puts me off wanting to back her, but I don’t want to be against her either.
(8) Ostraka also comes out of The Shorts, finishing sixth in the race. Prior to that was third in the Group 3 Concorde Stakes (1000m). Form is good enough to salute here.

Race 7: The TAB Everest (1200m) – 4:15pm (AEDT)
(1) Ka Ying Rising makes the 2025 Everest a must-watch race, if it wasn’t already the case. The winner of 14 from 16, there was drama leading into the race with rumours circulating that the champ wouldn’t take his place. They were quickly shut down by legendary trainer David Hayes. His record speaks for itself, and if he turns up anywhere near his best, then he wins. It’s one of those cases where after the race, if he salutes, we will all wonder why we didn’t take the generous $1.90 on offer. Happy to back something each-way and sit back and enjoy the son of Shamexpress go about his business.
(4) Jimmysstar was an eye-catching second to Briasa in the Group 2 Premiere Stakes (1200m). Pretty simple speed map for Jimmy, he is going to be at the tail of the field and hope there is early pressure that enables those ahead of him to tire late. Can he replicate Chautauqua in the 2017 TJ Smith Stakes? We will find out on Saturday.
(2) Briasa has had a perfect lead up to The Everest and third up, he is primed for success if the favourite has any chink in his armour. Should map nicely away from the fence and has strong top three prospects in the race.
(4) Jimmysstar E/W
$12/$3.00 (0.5U/1.5U)
Race 8: Silver Eagle (1300m) – 4:50pm (AEDT)
(9) Sabaj has lined up five times in his career for three wins and two seconds. Enters first up where he is a perfect two-from two and should be letting down strongly from worse than midfield. Leaves the Jolly stable to join Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr, I’d expect a big run in the Silver Eagle.
(1) Linebacker claimed a big scalp recently, beating Ka Ying Rising in one of the most talked about trials in recent memory. He was seventh in the Group 2 Tramway Stakes (1400m) won by Pericles who has since finished third in the Epsom. The Group 1 Randwick Guineas (1600m) winner from the autumn can produce a good second up run.
(5) Mayfair is fresh into this with a pair of trials under the belt. Placed in the 2024 Golden Rose, the four-year-old gelding has also had a trainer change from Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott to Bjorn Baker.
(9) Sabaj WIN
$6.00 (1 unit)
Race 9: King Charles III Stakes (1609m) – 5:35pm (AEDT)
(1) Mr Brightside is already a megastar of Australian racing, winning 20 races and more than $17 million in prizemoney. A 10-time Group 1 winner that has nothing left to prove, but this eight-year-old gelding loves a fight, and he reigned supreme in the Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) at Flemington last start. He has won twice at Randwick – winning the Doncaster Mile in both 2022 and 2023 – from five attempts. The mile is his pet distance and he goes on top.
(11) Pride Of Jenni is an incredible mare on her day, producing some unbelievable frontrunning victories. She leads and the tempo is likely to be strong as they love to try and run their opposition into dust. Would not shock to see her winning impressively or knocking up and running nowhere.
(10) Fangirl, just like the top two selections, has won more than $10 million in career earnings. She won the 7 Stakes (1600m) at her last run and her best will see her charge over the top of the field.
(1) Mr Brightside WIN
$4.80 (1.5 units)
Race 10: The Hong Kong Jockey Club World Pool Handicap (1400m) – 6:10pm (AEDT)
I won’t bother with a write up for this race as it is simply way too hard. Only three runners are in single figures and that should sum up the race. Good luck to anyone having a play in it!
