Collingwood vs Geelong Prediction & Betting Tips: AFL 2026 Round 21
Magpies Pushing for the Top Six
Collingwood return to the MCG on Thursday night with an opportunity to jump straight into the top six with a win. Currently sitting eighth on the ladder, Craig McRae's side have put together a highly impressive month and a half of football. They bring a six-game winning streak into this clash, capped off by a gritty win over the Crows in Adelaide last week. More importantly, that result marked Collingwood’s first victory over a top-nine side all year, proving their recent form spike is genuine and that they are finally ready to match it with the competition's upper tier.
Cats Finding Form Despite Injuries
Geelong arrive at the MCG having turned their season around on the back of consecutive victories. They produced a massive result last weekend, knocking off a highly-rated Melbourne side at this very ground. It was no small feat, considering the Demons were a perfect 9-0 at the MCG this season prior to that defeat. However, Chris Scott will have to seriously patch up his midfield/forward line to get the job done this week. Patrick Dangerfield is expected to be sidelined after playing sore last week, which is a massive blow considering he joins superstars Jeremy Cameron and Max Holmes on the sidelines, who both sustained injuries in previous weeks.
Recent Head-to-Head History
The Pies might be one of the form teams of the competition right now, but the recent history between these clubs belongs entirely to Geelong. The Cats have won the last three meetings between the two sides, consistently finding ways to break down Collingwood's structures. The most glaring example came earlier this season in Round 9, where Geelong completely smashed the Pies by 54 points at the MCG.
Collingwood vs Geelong Prediction and Best Bet
It is always tough to bet against a team on a six-game streak, but the matchup advantages heavily favour the visitors. The tactical battle in the midfield will dictate terms, and the Cats hold a major trump card. Geelong possess the best tagger in the league in Oisin Mullin, and if he can successfully do a job on Nick Daicos again, it will severely blunt Collingwood's primary distributor and give the Cats a clear upper hand in the engine room. Considering Geelong's recent dominance over the Magpies and their elite showing against Melbourne last week, backing them to cover the spread holds the most appeal.

Patrick Lipinski is putting together a sneaky good season and has been consistently hitting the scoreboard in recent weeks. He’s kicked at least one goal in four of his last five matches, with a total of six goals during that stretch. He remains over the odds considering his recent output and could also be added to our SGM if you wanted some more juice.
