Rosehill Racing Tips: Saturday September 27th 2025

September 26th 2025, 3:28pm, By: Trent Orwin

Rosehill Racing Tips

Golden Rose Stakes Day is here, and the $1 million feature looks incredible with the three-year-olds competing at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday. It will be a massive 10-race card that also sees the return of Golden Slipper winner Marhoona in the Heritage Stakes.

Temperatures are expected to be around 31 degrees with cloudy conditions and minimal rain around. The rail is in the true position and is currently listed as a Soft 5 but likely to improve into the Good range.

Trent Orwin has done the form to bring you his thoughts and tips for each race from Rosehill. Help support our FREE content by signing up to a new Australian sportsbook this Saturday, and if you’re after more free tips for this weekend’s key meetings, then head over to our Racing Tips page!

Rosehill Racing Tips: Saturday, September 27th 2025

Race 1: Midway Handicap (1300m) – 11:55am (AEST)

(6) Meridiana is one of two John Sargent runners in the race, and the four-year-old mare resumes with two trial runs under her belt. Last prep, she was third in the Listed Princess Stakes (1600m) before running eighth in the Listed Gold Coast Bracelet (1800m). The wide gate does pose a concern, but her class should take her a long way in this grade.

(1) Alabama State is another resuming and carries top weight of 59.5kg in the race. A recent trial looked good with quick closing sectionals and that is what this horse should do well here with a soft run in transit. Huge danger.

(5) Vetwelve is the stablemate to our top selection and is race fit with a deep campaign already under his belt. He was a Class 1 Handicap winner two starts ago before running second over 1500m in a Midway Handicap. Drops back in distance but should be on the speed from the inside gate. Strong prospects once again.

(6) Meridiana WIN

$4.60 (1 unit)

Race 2: TAB Highway Handicap (1500m) – 12:30pm (AEST)

(8) Poisen Point goes on top but not a race with any confidence whatsoever. A massive field is assembled and there is plenty of good form in the race. Brett Robb’s four-year-old mare won a pair of races at Dubbo in February. She was fourth at her first up run when running home well from the tail of the field. Not sure where she is going to land from gate 13 with the current scratching, but she is consistent.

(7) Fan Harder has won both career starts and takes another step up as he heads to town for the first time. Anna Roper retains the ride on the gelding and claims 2kg to carry 54kg for the race. This will be a good test for the gelding.

(5) Ready And Lucky is another one of about 10 more horses that could have been included here as this race is tricky. Prepared by Scone trainer Lou Mary, the five-year-old mare was a winner two starts ago in Benchmark 66 grade before finishing second at Wyong over 1350m.

TIP: No Bet

Race 3: Asahi Super Dry Colin Stephen Quality (2400m) – 1:05pm (AEST)

(7) Juja Kibo represents Ciaron Maher and has won three of his last four starts, including a very comfortable win over Cormac T last time over course and distance. Just the nine runners to go around and the son of Belardo should be close enough to strike in the run. Should be hardest to beat in the race.

(5) Taramansour has been racing in Victoria for trainer Phillip Stokes, coming out of the Group 3 Archer Stakes (2500m) won by Revelare which looks a nice form line. Over the distance, the nine-year-old gelding has finished in the placings on eight occasions from nine attempts. Should measure up well in this race and happy to have something small on also.

(8) Piggyback made the trek to Doomben at the start of the month where she landed the cash in a Benchmark 78 Handicap over 2200m. She is yet to win at Rosehill but has placed twice from three runs at the track and has Tim Clark in the saddle.

Also Backing: (5) Taramansour WIN $9.00 (1 unit)

(7) Juja Kibo WIN

$2.40 (2 units)

Race 4: Irresistible Pools & Spas Handicap (1900m) – 1:40pm (AEST)

(9) She’s Unusual tried to lead throughout last time when finishing second to Travolta, beaten 1.15 lengths. From gate one, she is going to kick through looking to lead or potentially take a trail behind The Years. Three starts back, the six-year-old mare captured a Benchmark 78 Handicap over 1800m, which makes the 1900m a nice middle ground compared to her 2000m runner up performance. Looks hardest to beat.

(11) The Years should be racing close to She’s Unusual and carries 53kg also. He finished third to Nkosi last start but may settle in front of him this time around. The Years won at Canterbury three starts back and should give backers a sight.

(4) Strathtay represents the powerful Chris Waller and James McDonald combo and that is where the early market support has been. A pair of fourth-placed efforts should see the son of Preferment ready to perform. He should be in the back half of the field and can run home strongly.

(9) She’s Unusual WIN

$3.10 (2 units)

Race 5: Toyota Forklifts Handicap (1400m) – 2:15pm (AEST)

(1) Felix Majestic is no stranger to carrying weight after racing with 61.5kg last start when second behind Lady Extreme. The outside gate could prove tough, however, if jockey William Stanley can slot in somewhere, then the Gary Nickson-trained gelding could run a cheeky race at double figures. He beat home race favourite Lord Of Biscay in the previous encounter and the 1400m is suitable for Felix Majestic.

(3) Lord Of Biscay fared much better with barriers this time around and looks hard to beat, although the price of $2.70 on offer doesn’t appeal at this stage. There is a lot to like about the six-year-old’s chances here with leading jockey James McDonald continuing his association with the Kris Lees galloper. Hopefully we can get a small drift to make him a bit more appealing.

(11) Captain Furai is often a costly commodity for punters, generally in the market without winning at this stage of his career. He is consistent for connections though, often earning minor prizemoney and it wouldn’t shock again to see him near the podium with Kerrin McEvoy and 54kg on his back.

(1) Felix Majestic WIN

$9.00 (1 unit)

Race 6: Petaluma Heritage Stakes (1100m) – 2:50pm (AEST)

(11) Akaysha headed down to Flemington a fortnight ago where the three-year-old filly was second to My Gladiola in the Listed Cap D’Antibes Stakes (1100m). In just four career starts, Akaysha has won a maiden over Beadman and finished in the placings at her next three starts. The question will be how far back in the run she will be – she can finish resolutely and looks a major player which is why she just gets the nod.

(4) Marhoona is the Golden Slipper winner that raced just three times in her first prep, defeating Wodeton in the rich $5 million feature before earning a well-deserved spell. Two good trials under the belt should see the daughter of Snitzel ready to run a big race fresh. She has a lovely draw and it will be great to see what she produces on Saturday.

(2) Beadman tasted defeat behind his stablemate Akaysha on debut before back-to-back wins, including the Group 3 Ken Russell Memorial Classic (1200m) at the Gold Coast as he demolished the field by eight lengths. This really is a terrific race and Beadman has strong claims also.

(11) Akaysha WIN

$5.00 (1 unit)

Race 7: Racing and Sports Golden Pendant (1400m) – 3:25pm (AEST)

(6) Gerringong enters the Group 2 Golden Pendant off a pair of fourth-placed runs at Caulfield and Flemington in the Group 3 Cockram Stakes (1200m) and Listed Tontonan Stakes (1400m). Should be cherry ripe third up from a spell and hopefully there isn’t too much early pressure. If Tim Clark can pinch a cheap enough furlong in the first half of the race, Gerringong can give them something to catch.

(1) Manaal was an excellent winner of the Group 2 Sheraco Stakes (1200m). A Group 1 Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) winner at two, the four-year-old mare is one of the key players in this race and will be on the speed. Expect her to let down strongly in the home straight.

(2) Firestorm captured the Group 2 Millie Fox Stakes (1300m) back in February and then narrowly missed in the Group 1 Coolmore Classic (1500m) won by Lady Shenandoah which is immaculate form. She is a four-time winner when resuming from six attempts and will be making up plenty of ground in the latter stages of the race.

(6) Gerringong WIN

$4.40 (1.5 units)

Race 8: Yulong Golden Rose (1400m) – 4:05pm (AEST)

(9) Tempted proved too good in the lead up to the Golden Rose, storming away with a 1.55-length victory over Beiwacht in the Group 2 The Run To The Rose (1200m). This will be the first time that the filly steps out to 1400m, but all indications suggest she will enjoy it. From her wide gate, jockey Ethan Brown is going to settle back in the field and hopefully they can find a suitable cart into the race. She is the lone filly in the race and is the race favourite.

(7) Autumn Boy tasted defeat last time out when second in the Group 3 Ming Dynasty Quality (1400m) as stablemate Sixties saluted. Blinkers go on first time, and he should slot in handy in the race. Will be dangerous and his class will take him a long way.

(1) Beiwacht was runner up behind Tempted and has been building nicely into his campaign that first kicked off with a third in the Group 3 San Domenico Stakes (1100m). There’s no reason to suggest he can’t win the Golden Rose with the right run.

(9) Tempted WIN

$2.90 (2 units)

Race 9: Canadian Club Shannon Stakes (1500m) – 4:45pm (AEST)

(1) Gringotts comes out of the Group 1 Winx Stakes (1400m) won by superstar mare Via Sistina. The six-year-old gelding was fifth in the event and returns to a distance that saw him win the Group 1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m) over Fangirl in the autumn. A winner twice from five attempts when second up, Gringotts has the class to prove hard to beat in this event.

(4) Rise At Dawn lost no admirers when third at Flemington in the Listed Tontonan Stakes (1400m). It will be his first look at the Rosehill track, but like Gringotts, this could be a favourable map on the pace. He looks ready to get back to the winner’s circle and will go close.

(9) Maison Louis kicks off his spring prep over a distance that will be shorter than his preference. He was last seen winning the Group 1 Queensland Derby (2400m) and his most recent trial suggests he might be switched on for a surprising fresh run around the $21 mark. Probably not likely to win and whatever he does in the Shannon Stakes will benefit him going forward.

(1) Gringotts WIN

$4.00 (2 units)

Race 10: E Security Group Handicap (1100m) – 5:25pm (AEST)

(1) Bonita Queen is third up from a spell and the early plan looks simple – jump and run. Jockey Siena Grima goes aboard and will be looking for the front. She wasn’t a bad effort when fifth in a Benchmark 88 Handicap. Drops back to a Benchmark 78 Handicap which is why the mare carries 57.5kg after the claim from Grima. Hopefully she can give a sight at massive odds.

(7) Polyglot has been runner up at his past two starts and looks set to win in this grade soon. James McDonald will likely have to press forward from the wide gate, and the Godolphin gelding should be fighting out the finish.

(11) Monte Supreme fits the description of winning form is good form, and she has strong claims of making it a hat-trick of wins. The bigger field could see her shuffled further back than her previous two starts.

(1) Bonita Queen E/W

$16/$4.20 (1 unit)
