2023 AFL Round 24 Expert Tips
Friday August 25th
After a disgraceful performance against the Giants last weekend, the Bombers will need to show some fight when they close out their season on Friday night against the Magpies. Meanwhile, the Magpies will be keen to head into the finals in winning form after a couple of mediocre results of late.
Saturday August 26th
Albeit in a loss, the Hawks turned in another pleasing performance for their supporters in Round 23. They've been matching it with the best sides in the competition over the past month and will be a team to look out for next season. They'll fancy their chances of closing out their year with a win against the Dockers.
An unlikely win for the Eagles against the Bulldogs last weekend saw the Kangaroos slip to last on the ladder. Now in control of the upcoming #1 pick in the draft, their coaching staff will have absolutely zero interest in winning the final game of the season which is against the Suns who have never won a match in Tassie.
The Lions need to win their final match of the season to secure an all-important top two finish. They should have the edge against a Saints outfit that claimed an elusive finals berth with a win over the Cats last weekend. The Lions will be heavy favourites in this one.
A loss against the Saints last weekend ruled out any chance of the Cats making the finals in 2023. With their season now over, they're likely to field a second-string lineup in their final match against the Bulldogs. Surely the Bulldogs have to bounce back after their embarrassing defeat to the Eagles last weekend?
For one reason or another, the Eagles put in a spirited performance against the Bulldogs last weekend and claimed their third win of the season as a result. They'll finish their year at home against the Crows who saw their finals hopes dashed in heartbreaking and highly-controversial fashion in Round 23.
Sunday August 27th
The Power have locked in a top four spot but are still a mathematical chance of finishing in the top two heading into the final round. The ball is not in their court, although they'll still want to head into the finals with a win regardless. They'll take on the Tigers who are coming off an emotional farewell match last weekend.
Whether or not it was deserved, the Swans defeated the Crows on the road last weekend to lock in another finals berth. They'll be keen to win again in Round 24 to try and earn a home elimination final, although they won't have it all their own way in this one as they host a top four outfit in the Demons.
After a long time in the wilderness, the Blues will return to the finals in 2023. The only question now is who they'll face in their first elimination final. Meanwhile, the Giants will have it all to play for in this one, with a win being enough to earn themselves a spot in the finals.
