Morphettville will host a 10-race card with the Manihi Classic and the Clare Lindop Stakes as the two featured races. The first race will get underway at 11:32 am. The track is anticipated to be a good/dry track; therefore, all selections are picked in that regard.
Let’s get stuck into my best bets for the card!
Morphettville Racing Tips – Saturday, April 1st 2023
Race 3: Peter Elberg Funerals (BM70) 1050m
(5) Joseylin: Victorian horse who comes over to SA. Has been racing extremely well and hasn’t missed the trifecta last 4 outings. On paper she looks better than the rest of this field and this distance shouldn’t be a problem. Draws a nice gate and should be able to sit on pace and be right in the finish.
(6) Moon And Back: Another Victorian horse who won a nice race 2 back and then failed to fire LS.
All wins have come from the dry, so if everything goes right, she could find herself in the finish at a nice price.
Race 5: Fleurieu Milk Company (BM62) 2000m
(7) Isola Sacra: Very open race this one, but she has started this prep well with a handy win fresh and then only just missed LS. Gets up in trip off the last 2 and should be fit enough third up. Nice each way price, happy to have.
(6) Crown Mint: I concede that he hasn’t won since 2021, but he is proven third up and up in distance should help. Never likely LS as it was a leader bias. Could surprise.
Isola Sacra - Each Way

Race 7: Manihi Classic
(5) Queman: Last start win was rather impressive and we tipped him that day too. Happy to have again. Up in class, but a track specialist and will take catching.
(4) Philonize: Unbeaten at this track/distance and has built a nice resume so far. Tougher race LS and battled for third. The early money has come. Will play a key role.
(3) Heka Express: Tipped this one LS at Port Lincoln where she saluted at big odds. Maybe a little too far though this time out. 1000m might be the key distance.
Race 9: Clare Lindop Stakes 1600m
(6) As Time Goes By: Started this prep well with 2 seconds. Gets an easier race on paper here and is deserving of a win soon. Draws well and late sectionals have been class. Happy to have.

Race 10: Goodwood Carnival BM72 1050m
(10) Zebella: Open race this one, but I think we’ve found a diamond in the rough with this horse. Very handy wins last two outings winning easy. Up in grade, but down in weight and should be fit enough to go on with it here. Draws well and Will take catching.
(9) Tanto: Very nice win LS in Vic. Fourth up now and may find this task easier. Will be competitive and can get a nice each way price.
