Esports Betting Tips: Tuesday, August 11th
BIG vs Heroic
DreamHack Open Summer 2020 Europe
The last time these two teams met was back in January in the semi-finals of DreamHack Open Leipzig 2020, which was an event still played on LAN, so the results from back then don’t mean much in the online era of CS. Nevertheless, BIG managed to win that day 2-0 with 16-9 on Overpass and 16-12 on Inferno. Florian "syrsoN" Rische was a joy to watch as he put up a total of 42 frags and 1.26 HLTV rating.
On the side of Heroic, only Martin "stavn" Lund and Patrick "es3tag" Hansen were somewhat satisfactory that day with 1.05 and 1.02 HLTV rating respectively. As mentioned previously, however, the match was played on LAN and Heroic also changed two players since then, so we probably should not put too much weight on the said match.
BIG will be coming into the match following a shaky 2-1 victory over Endpoint and to be honest, they were lucky to win that match. Endpoint wasted two match points which would allow them to win the series with a clean 2-0, but BIG managed to fight back and eventually pushed the series into the third map, which took quite a toll on Endpoint's mental.
As for Heroic, they have played their first match against their local rivals MAD Lions and managed a relatively easy 2-0 win, but considering MAD Lions were without their best player, Heroic's win wasn’t something to write home about. Nevertheless, a win is a win.
In my eyes, BIG are nothing special and it is just a matter of time before the players like tiziaN and k1to cool down, which will see BIG become an average team once more. Skill-wise BIG should be ahead here, but considering how poorly they played against Endpoint I am not comfortable betting on them and will instead side with Heroic, who have very tempting odds on the outright market. Value bet on Heroic!
Ze Pug Godz vs Triumph
DreamHack Open Summer 2020 North America
Ze Pug Godz and Triumph met just a couple of weeks ago in the Grand finals of Mythic Summer Series Cup 1, where Ze Pug Godz secured a 2-1 victory.
Triumph opened the series with a 16-8 win on Mirage, which was quite an achievement considering it was the Ze Pug Godz's pick. Anyway, ZPG turned the game upside down on Overpass with a close 19-17 OT victory, to which they added a blowout on Nuke with a 16-5 victory.
Since then both teams went through some roster changes and looking at them, it's Triumph who are at a loss. They parted ways with their best player Michael "Grim" Wince (who was also the top-ranked player in their previous match against ZPG, 69 frags and 1.29 HLTV rating), who left for Team Liquid and got replaced by former EnvyUs player Kaleb "moose" Jayne. ZPG, on the other side, lost Bradley "ANDROID" Fodor who was replaced by Will "dazzLe" Loafman, which is not an upgrade nor a downgrade.
Looking at the upcoming match, I can't imagine any other result than a comfortable win for Ze Pug Godz. They had a tough first match of the tournament against Team Liquid, and even though they lost, their morale was relatively unharmed, since it was an expected result.
Triumph had to face Chaos, who are a somewhat decent team and lost with 16-6 on Mirage and 16-2 on Nuke. Triumph did not put up much fight in that game which makes me believe the recent departure was a bigger blow to this team that it may seem at a first glance. Bet on ZPG to secure a 2-0 victory!

Team Liquid vs Chaos
DreamHack Open Summer 2020 North America
Team Liquid recently kicked their former IGL Nicholas "nitr0" Cannella from the team and replaced him with Michael "Grim" Wince, a young star player from Triumph. Meanwhile, Jacky "Stewie2K" Yip took over the IGL role, which is a somewhat risky move in my book, considering how poorly these “kick IGL, make star player IGL” moves have gone in the past.
On top of that, Team Liquid also removed coach Eric "adreN" Hoag and replaced him with a caster Jason "moses" O'Toole which is another move I can't understand nor do I support it. It may have worked for their League of Legends team with Joshua "Jatt" Leesman, but I don't see how it will work for their CS:GO project, since moses has zero experience leading a team as a coach.
Anyway, Team Liquid won their first match of the tournament against Ze Pug Godz with 16-5 on Vertigo and 16-10 on Inferno. Their newest signing Grim was the man of the hour, with 51 frags and an amazingly high 1.72 HLTV rating.
Chaos will be coming into the match in great spirits as they are currently on a 15 match winning streak, but considering Chaos mostly played against tier 2 teams such as Positive Vibes only, New England Whalers, RBG, TeamOne and Yeah, Mystic, their run, as impressive as it may look on paper, is nothing special.
While it's true that winning 15 games is surely a good thing for Chaos' morale, they will now need to prove their worth against Team Liquid who looked very dominant against Ze Pug Godz, who are more or less the same level quality team as Chaos, so it's easy to expect another clean 2-0 for Liquid despite their iffy decisions. Bet on Team Liquid to secure a dominant 2-0 victory!
