Esports Betting Tips: Thursday, August 13th
Ze Pug Godz vs Chaos
FunSpark ULTI 2020 North America Qualifier
Ze Pug Godz and Chaos last met about two months ago during the DreamHack Open Summer 2020 North America Closed Qualifier, where Ze Pug Godz walked away with a clean 2-0 win. ZPG opened the series with a 16-5 win on Mirage and started well on Dust2 where they held a 9-6 HT lead and while Chaos made the map interesting, they still fell short in the end and lost 14-16.
Gage "Infinite" Green was the best player on the server that day with a total of 44 frags and 1.38 HLTV rating. On the side of Chaos Joshua "steel" Nissan and Anthony "vanity" Malaspina were the only two players who looked somewhat decent with 1.07 HLTV ratings. I must also mention that both of the Chaos star players Nathan "leaf" Orf and Erick "Xeppaa" Bach were unusually quiet in the said match, which I believe was the sole reason why Chaos, while a strategically better team, lost that day.
Looking at the next match, I believe it will once more come down to the performances of lead and Xeppaa, since they're the only two players on Chaos who are capable of making Ze Pug Godz sweat.
Both teams are in great shape, especially ZPG who were in a 16-game winning streak before they lost to Team Liquid. However, in the said match and in the next against Triumph, ZPG showed a lot of their weaknesses and unless they miraculously improve ahead of this bout, I don't believe ZPG will have a great time facing Chaos. Bet on Chaos to close this one in two maps!
Endpoint vs Heroic
DreamHack Open Summer 2020 Europe
Endpoint and Heroic last met at the cs_summit 6 Europe Regional Qualifier where Heroic won 2-1. Endpoint actually managed to claim the series lead (19-16 OT) on Mirage, but fell apart on Vertigo (5-16) and Train (5-16).
Heroic's trio of René "TeSeS" Madsen, Martin "stavn" Lund and Johannes "b0RUP" Borup were literally unstoppable that day, all with over 60 frags and high HLTV rating showing 1.31, 1.26 and 1.24 respectively. As for Endpoint players, they all failed to show up. Their IGL Max "MiGHTYMAX" Heath was the only player with somewhat okay performance, 57 frags and 0.99 HLTV rating.
In the last meeting, Endpoint were in great form and still managed to look like bots on map two and three, which makes me concerned about how will they fare this time out despite their solid performances against BIG and MAD Lions. Endpoint also lost to some weaker sides not long ago which suggests they will likely struggle here.
Heroic are heading into this bout with 3-2 record from their last five and even those two losses were very close, and were played against OG and BIG. On the other side, Heroic had no issues taking down fnatic, MAD Lions and North and if that is any indication, defeating Endpoint 2-0 should be a walk in the park for them. Bet on Heroic to win 2-0!
TeamOne vs Cloud9
DreamHack Open Summer 2020 North America
TeamOne shocked Cloud9 a couple of days ago with a 2-1 win in the opening Group A match at the DreamHack Open Summer 2020 North America. To make matters worse for C9, they won the opening map (19-15 OT), but humiliated themselves on Inferno (4-16) and Dust2 (5-16), basically handing TeamOne a free W.
Matheus "prt" Scuvero was phenomenal that day, putting up 64 frags and a high 1.41 HLTV rating. On the side of C9, all five players underperformed, since neither managed a +1.00 rating. I won't discredit the Brazilians for their win, but considering that they have struggled against much weaker teams since that bout, I highly doubt they are capable of another upset win this time out
Even though I don't rate the current Cloud9 roster very highly, I still firmly believe they have the needed players to mop the floor with TeamOne and teams of a similar calibre. Another upset win is still possible, but the chances of that happening are extremely low, especially after TeamOne's iffy performances lately. Since losing to TeamOne, Cloud9 won four in a row without losing a single map and we can be sure they will be out for blood.
Fluke wins can happen, but they almost never happen twice in a row and I don't believe this match will be an exception to that rule. Expect Cloud9 to avenge their loss and win this match without dropping a map!
