Nigma vs B8
ESL One Los Angeles 2020 Dota2 Online: Europe & CIS
Kuro "KuroKy" Salehi Takhasomi and co. truly lived up to their stigma of being one of the more inconsistent teams in the Dota2 scene with their performances and while we should give Nigma some slack for their results, given that this is an online tournament - a format that usually favours underdogs, it's still incredibly hard to defend the reigning TI finalists for their shaky display against Cyber Legacy (2-1) and most recently, their loss to Gambit (0-2). But how do Nigma stack up to B8?
On paper, this is a prime example of a David versus Goliath match, but as we know from this Biblical story, David did end up winning the unfavourable fight. Unfortunately, we still don't see B8 as a serious threat for Nigma, especially if we consider the ex-Liquid roster desperately need to win here in a bid to get their wheels spinning before they deny themselves a spot in the second stage. Having said that, siding with Nigma on -1.5 market is not all too appealing, as they are priced at only 1.52. B8, on the other side have 2.43 offered on +1.5 map market and while it definitely won't be an easy task for Danil “Dendi” Ishutin and his crew, we have to remind ourselves, B8 took OG to three maps and defeated HellRaisers 2-1 on Wednesday, which is a promising sign. Trust B8 to secure one map.
Virtus.pro vs Vikin.gg
ESL One Los Angeles 2020 Dota2 Online: Europe & CIS
Virtus.pro might not be one of the strongest teams in the scene, nor are they one of the best teams at the tournament, but what they are is consistent. Unlike all other teams who had their shaky moments, Virtus.pro have consistently performed well and picked up three wins against HellRaisers (2-1), Gambit (2-1) and Cyber Legacy (2-0), which earned them the top seed in their group.
Vikin.gg are clearly the dark horse team at the tournament, who didn't seem like a serious threat up until this Wednesday when they picked up a 2-1 win over OG. An impressive result on the paper, but we still have a hard time believing Vikin.gg are a team that has a legitimate chance of finishing top-four, as that game was more of a fluke than anything else. Having said that, Virtus.pro tend to drop at least one map in their games and although Vikin.gg are by no means a strong team, the momentum and morale boost they gained last Wednesday should help them win at least one map. What’s more, Virtus.pro never before played Vikin.gg, so preparing for this match will be a hard task for the Russian squad.
HAVU vs Chaos
CS:GO FLASHPOINT
Since the decline of ENCE, HAVU rose to the occasion and picked up the crown as the best Finnish CS:GO team, which is quite an achievement. They're entering this bout with five wins in their last six FLASHPOINT fixtures, which includes a 2-1 win over the current league frontrunners MAD Lions. Chaos EC, on the other side, have found themselves in a slump since they parted ways with their star AWPer Owen "smooya" Butterfield and won only two matches out of five played. Their first win came against MiBR (thanks to an incredible display from smooya) and they later triumphed over Gen.G. Unfortunately, Chaos failed to see the same success in their rematch with MiBR and later in their bouts against MAD Lions and FunPlus Phoenix.
HAVU and Chaos met once before, back in March at the Flashpoint Global Qualifier, where HAVU came out ahead with the score line showing 26-18. It was a hard-fought match with four overtimes, however, we can hardly expect Chaos will be able to produce the same level of resistance here. The departure of smooya deprived them of a lot of firepower they had and before they can find a solid replacement, Chaos will struggle even against the likes of HAVU. Expect a comfortable win for the Finnish side, who should seal a perfect 2-0 series.
